No comparison, if you want a sub woofer then probably get the Sony or something with a sub. If you want something that sounds best while listening to the hans Zimmer, I'd say the creatives are better.

I have a pair of Creative T20 II and they sound very very clear to me. They even fit your price range. Although they don't have a subwoofer, you probably shouldn't need one if what you seek is clarity on a budget...

I was contemplating between the DX90 and the X5 and every review I read gave me the impression that SQ wise, the X5 has more bass and a warmer sound which suits my musical needs and the DX90 is more analytical with a bigger sound.

I completely agree. E17 with the bass and treble control should be great with the Sr225i. But keep the settings close to neutral to get that smoothness in the vocals when you get the E17.
