Now that i am thinking of giving the Z5500 to my friend, needed something to replace it.Won't be going for custom building a HT system as i am no audiophile and mainly, don't have moolah for the same since my max budget is 30-35k.First thing that came to my mind in this situation is Onkyo HTiB ones.
Since i can't get to audition any Onkyo, need opinion from experienced guys whether i should go on and muster cash for the Onkyo S3200(around 26-28k AFAIK) or should i settle with Z5500 again(for 16-17k) since i am very very happy with its performance towards my needs so far.
Just wanted to make sure Onkyo will deliver the power/quality that surpasses the Z5500 for my main needs:
Bluray Playback via PS3/PC.
Gaming via Xonar D2X.
Any help in this matter will be highly appreciated.....
Thanx in advance

Although I am not 100% certain, it might be a crime to compare an Onkyo to a Logitech, especially when the Onkyo is about 8k costlier.
Any Onkyo > Any Logitech
But if music is your primary aim then go in for 2.0 or 2.1.
If going for games and movies, also consider Polk 5.1 for 25k + 10k receiver.

Again personal choice... but i prefered the z5500 over the low end HTIBs available locally. Infact, the cheapest system i found to be better was ~60-70k Jamo...
This could be because:
- the Z5500s at home are in a controlled environment vis-a-vis ezone
- I have the z5500s tuned to my liking
Again, i'm no expert but just my 2 cents

Although i havent heard any of those, id suggest you get the Onkyo for ease of upgradability, in the end, take a demo and decide

Dear friend
Please consider this..
Onkyo is a specialist is making Professional Audio equipment of the highest grade with Industry Leading Innovations in their Dolby Digital Processors etc... they are normally compared to Yamaha, Marantz, Denon etc...
& Logitech are famous for making Mice..?? now whose speakers do your think would sound good... my guess is: take Onkyo's worst speakers; and they could compete with logitech's best... Z5500. that means that logitech's best models are being compared with the lower ranks of Onkyo's Speakers..
Take Onkyo my dear blindly, & then you can make conversation too with its name.
Hope this helps.
---------------------
my system:
Yamaha 3090 Amp.
Speakers = Polk Audio RT 1000's
Marantz Power amps Monoblock's 5 nos. 1 per speaker. 250 watts RMS
B&W Subwoofer ASW 800
All interconnects of 24K Gold and Bi-wired with 70 gauge OFC Cable.
for my PC i use Altec Lansing - compared to above system it sucks.

^^ Does your Altec Lansing cost even half of your systems total cost ? Thats like saying my Ferrari is a much better car than your Maruti 800. You get what you pay for.
And IMHO its not proper to compare brands rather than their competing products.
Take for e.g. the Sennheiser CX 300 IEM earphones that cost a cool 3500 bucks. I have a pair of Chinese Betabrainwavz that sell for 1/3rd that price at 1000 bucks that sound better. Now Sennheiser is a well known audio brand that sells headphones. Their old flagship Sennheiser HE90 sells for about $20000 USD used today.
So my 2 cents is that dont go by brands, compare the products only.

That must be really some headphones for a used one to command such price (~Rs.10,00,000 ~ A Honda City). Just wondering what would be the most expensive headphones available?

Ok, ive read what people have said above and take my opinion on this very seriously..
i own a onkyo ht-230 5.1 speakers with the onkyo sub and for my pc i use the altec lansing mx-5021.
1) The onkyo anyday sounds better with my yamaha amp. but my system was a good 70k purchase.
2) mx-5021 sounds gr8 with my creative xi-fi xtreme gamer, without it(onboard sound) it kinda sucks..
I have tried my onkyo's with pc sound through onboard sound as well as with the creative sound.. Onboard output was very bad.. With creative it was good but no where close to the output i receive from my pioneer dvd player.
In short the onkyo's didnt sound as good even wih the creative as it did with the Pioneer player i own to play my dvd's and divx ultra video's.
so with the ps3 connected to the amp, onkyo will sound gr8, pc to amp will not be the same experience.
amp to logitech z5500... hmmm. they definitely sound gr8 with the xonar..
any good audio setup, amp + speakers cost 50k plus.. the HTIB's sound rubbish as compared to the 50k+ babies...
I say stick to your Z5500....
Btw i had seen a JBL that can play via optical. its a 5.1 setup.. mayb u shud chk em out.. :)

If you really want the best within this budget then:
2x 9.1 Wharfedale OR Polk audio 5.1
Else
Onkyo blindly, it comes with a receiver already
