Pretty good offer for anyone in the UK who wants to make a quick profit on a turnaround sale or even use a good mid-tier phone. Argos is selling off its stock of W890s for 60 quid on eBay. Not bad for a new phone with an year's warranty.

If I were in London right now, I know I'd be picking up a few of these for resells.

But these are locked for o2 carriers. Can one get it unlocked in UK and use it here ?

Yes you can. I've been buying SIM locked phones in the UK for almost 5 years and get them unlocked for a couple of dollars.
Matey, there are better deals to be had. Check Phones4U and Carphone. Try looking around for PAYG deals. For example, a SIM free LG Cookie was available for 4.5K on CPW recently.
