Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy one of these monitor in due course.
Could you guys help me out what should I buy.
Personally I would prefer both of them but I can only buy one.
But my question is Dell U2410 better than Dell 2408wfp.
Overall Dell 2408 looks better.:hap2:
But Dell U2410 has IPS panel which overall has better performance than PVA panel.:bleh:
So please help me decide.:hap2:

Currently, there are no professional reviews out there for the new U2410. But there are quite a few for the older 2408wfp. I would suggest to wait till more information/reviews come out for U2410 and then do a comparison for your decision.
What is your typical usage?

Thanks for the reply.
My typical usage is Movies(lots of them),Surfing and May be Sometime gaming.
And the other thing is that I will connect Airtel DTH to these monitor to watch Football matches and sports on it.:bleh:
Forgot to Add would connect Xtreamer and Wii also.:hap2:
I know only 1 connection is allowed to connect other devices but would manage some how. :D
The other thing is that my birthday is there next month so plan to buy the monitor before that.
Right now thinking of Dell U2410 mostly it would be good as it is newer version but still undecided.
As both the monitor are nearly same so very hard to decide.:P

The only problem as far as I could gather from various reviews of 2408wfp is the so called input lag when gaming. The latest revision A02 has an average lag of around 2 frames(33ms). Input lag is very subjective as many claim that it won't be even visible to casual gamers as in your case. Maybe you can wait for opinions from people who have this panel and other panel experts.
As far as the image quality goes, 2408 is considered one among the best. Since it is a wide gamut panel, a possible problem might be finding the right calibration values especially if you are a professional. If the calibration is not correct, some colors might appear over saturated. The newer U2410 has an sRGB mode which will give you more realistic colors because most of the programs output color in this mode. The modes are factory calibrated. These are the finer points that I want to know more from professional reviews before going for this panel. I also read that windows 7 will have color management in-built so that this issue will be completely disappear. So, my vote goes for U2410 but I would wait for more reviews.
Maybe others can give you more insights...

ive been using 2408WFP for about an year now..hdrips,gaming,surfing ..but ive never noticed any input lag during gaming or im glad that i couldnt notice if theres any..to top it off i was even using a wireless mouse :P
the only problem is theres a little color shift after 50 degress (horizontally).I dont know about IPS panels..if they dont have this color shift (colors going a little bland) then i think u should go for 2410.

You would be better off with a 32" TV for this )

thanks dekruzader for your replies.
What you said makes sense but I can't wait to get a new monitor.
Because my parent may never approve me buying such a expensive monitor If there is no special occasion.:bleh:
So I will have to buy it before my birthday.
Mostly I am going to buy Dell U2410 as overall IPS panel are the best.:hap2:

Which TV would give me this resolution and the quality of image.
Can you say to me so that I would try to get that instead of the Dell Monitor.
Overall I think Monitor offer a very good picture quality,High Resolution,More inputs and better viewing angle.
But if I can find somethign better in my price range of around 30k I would definitely get that.:hap2:

A monitor will give you more resolution, but PQ, inputs and viewing angles are much better on a TV. Also, watching movies and DTH do not need a full HD display. In fact, DTH would look better on a 720p display than a 1080p one.
BTW, the U2410 costs around 40K.

Airtel would look crap on a HD monitor. A 32" TV would be much better for watching TV and movies. The larger screen will also benefit the Wii.
Such a high end LCD would be good if you're working in graphics or like to play PC games on very high res. You need a top notch card too for that. For movies and all, size matters much more than res.

That's a stupid assumption, try watching movies on an MVA or PVA panel and then compare.

You may be right but that the general assumption.
But this assumption is not without facts http://en.wikipedia..../TFT_LCD.:bleh:
But I made up my mind and going to get myself Dell U2410.
Hopefully I will get the monitor soon.
Thanks all of you for your suggestions.:hap2:

I am also torn between these two models currently. But leaning mostly toward U2410... it's newer model, IPS, and barely 2-3k over 2408WFP.
Just holding till we get some proper review of U2410... :)

U2410 because of the best viewing angles. I am myself in the habit of watching movies on my Dell 2007WFP S-IPS panel while sitting/lying down on the mattress on the floor and the overall experience has been pretty good.
