i am looking forward to replace my old desktop with something smaller as there is a severe space crunch ..i came accross this acer lappy

i have some relatives coming down to mumbai from the US so planning to get this for regular home use.. no gaming or anything.. just plain music and office applications.. would be using this for my mba preparation this year.. online mock CATs etc

for the price mentioned ~19K (380$) i feel its decent.. but i have no clue reg the processor and warranty (International Travelers Warranty)
would this be applicable in india?

I have never even heard of this processor before. Why don't you ask them to get you an Acer 5738(Intel T6400,3GB DDR3 Ram, 320GB HDD) which costs 34k in India.
It has great battery life.

the processor will tend to make this a typical netbook rather than a laptop replacement.
tdp will be ofcourse lower.
AMD Athlon 2650e in an Affordable Notebook - Atom has a smaller TDP, yet 2650e is not far behind - Softpedia

at the kinda prices you are getting and for the intended usage, it should be good enough.

ofcourse in computer or electronics, there will be always something slightly better if you spend a bit more :P

i am ready to extend the budget till 25K may be.. ~500$.
