FX5051 are nice but i think they cost 14k.
I wud rather recommend Logitech X-540 - 5.3k + XONAR DX Sound Card - 4.6k.
U cannot beat this combo! period.

Do you have an external soundcard or is it the default onboard soundcard? An external/dedicated soundcard is the way to go and will give better output too.

U can even consider G51 if u are into gaming/watching movies.
For audiophiles Mx5021 2.1 is the way to go.

i dont have an external sound card but will buy one soon. i am thinking about speaker only. the price of altec is rs10700 on theitwares.
do games support usb speakers in 5.1 mode ??
i am seriously thinking about a 5.1 from altec. i heard that altec is VFM and very good sound quality. is there any 5.1 speaker from altec ?
which one is good -- g51 or X540 ??

Altec Lancing VS3251 + Xonar DX is also a gud combo to consider. But if u hav the budget for FX5051 then buy it without any doubt, and buy a sound card any sooner or later as u hav mentioned above.

I would personally vouch for X-540... as I own these and they really rock in gaming and movies.

11k speakers with a total of only 80W rms? a Big No No.
Rather lay eyes on X-540 - 5.3k (70W rms)
Techgage - Logitech X-540 5.1 Speakers
.......................
Advantages of FX5051 over X-540:
1. SEXYYYYYYYYYYY DEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP BASSSSSSSS
2. Nice looks
Disadvantages:
1. Double the Price of X-540
.......................
Choice is urs. i wud again recommend X-540 only evn if u have a 11k budget. money shudnt be burnt uselessly. the product shud be worth the budget.
UPDATE: Yes, the USB soundcard of Altec FX5051 sux more than onboard audio. End of discussion, these speakers are for bass-maniacs ONLY.

VS3251 are the saddest 5.1 speakers ever! they sound worse than Intex 5.1, im not kidding.
I seriously doubt dat man!! :) . Personally I like X540 with its amazing bass punch. But VS3251 is wat recommended by audiophiles due to its exact sound reproduction than enhancements over original source.
