I'm thinking of getting of Phenom II x3 710. Will it be able to work on my existing AM2 Motherboard ?
I have Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2 & ASUS M2N-MX here with me?

yes ... it should. AFAIK am3 cpus will work on am3 mobos which will have ddr3 ram, and they will work on am2 boards as well with ddr2 ram.
