I am looking at retiring my Creative zen Vision M 30gb & Nokia 6280 to have one mobile that handles Multimedia & communication.

I basically need: (yeah, kinda quirky:ashamed: )
- phone that can plays videos & music as well as my 2 year old creative zen
- has a 3.5mm jack for using own headphones
- A 3.2mp camera or better
- Mini-USB, Wifi, bluetooth & 3G (for future usage)
- A screen size of 2.5" or more
- Not too big or fat
- one handed operation
- Good battery life

Nice to have:
- GPS
- Screen res better than my existing phone i.e. QVGA (320x240)

I was very hopeful of the nokia 5800 but having used it a few times, i find the touch aspect of the phone to be a let down. Scrolling using fingers is a pain & a stylus beats the whole idea. + saw the demo videos in the 5800, they looked very jerky.

For a budget of 20k or less, what alternatives do i have?

If you could increase your budget a bit(around 2k more) you would be able to get either the HTC Touch Diamond or Asus P552w Glide. But I think neither has a 3.5mm jack.

Within 20k range you can get the Nokia N82. The N82 will be able to play any video file you throw at it, no need for converting the videos. It has a 3.5mm jack too.

If you need the screen size to be more than 2.5 inch then the Nokia N95(not the 8GB version) will be in your budget. It retails for around 17-18k now-a-days.

But the Nokia 5800 would have had been your best bet since it has the longest battery life in music player mode among mobiles. The interface may lag or be a little jerky since its still early days for the S60 5th edition OS. The glitches would be ironed out in due course.

Hi, I am also looking into getting a new mobile phone. the thing with me though is that I don't need anything fancy. for example. I never use the camera or internet on my mobile and most of the other features which are on every mobile nowadays. but I am moving to another place and I don't know my way around, so I would need one of those mobiles with maps that tell you where you are etc. I think it's called GPS? (I'm not good with technical stuff :-) so far as I've seen, only really new mobiles have that function and they are really expensive, really out of my range. I really have a thing for flip phones, so I was wondering if there are any out there with GPS? I'm using nokia 2760, but a friend of mine has offered me a motorola razr v3 because she's got a new phone... can you suggest anything? thank you!
