Alright , I have an issue here !

I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit.

Problem is -
Whenever I download stuff through torrent irrespective of which torrent client I am using , after a while of downloading my pc gets very slow (kind of hangs and I can only press the restart button on the cabinet) and i lose connection to the network (steam gets offline , msn / yahoo disconnects) and the network monitor at the bottom corner show a yellow exclamation mark saying - "Limited Connectivity / No Connectivity" .
I'm not able to download.

Even previously when i was in 32 Bit vista , similar problem was there.

Please help me out , not able to download. :(

System specs -

Q6600
XFX 780i SLI
4GB DDR2
9800GT 512MB OC'ed
Airtel Broadband 512Kbps (Beetel Wi-fi Router)

Strange that you report the same problem & we share common things
x64 Vista
airtel connection 512kbps

Complained to airtel & over 2 days of R&D with various settings/changing lan cable/changing the modem, it was found that the power adaptor was giving higher power after a while & causing that to hang thus giving "limited connectivity". Yesterday evening it was changed & last 12 hrs I am running smooth.

Neither airtel could think nor I could think that this could be the problem.
So Try this it might be the case & may solve the problem.

Doesn't seem to happen then.
Plus as i told you , it used to happen when my system was 32bit and now it's a completely different 64bit fresh install , so maybe the above stated thing might be the problem? I've called up airtel they are sending someone asap.
I tried changing my torrent client from Vuze to BitTorrent , made no difference what so ever.

PS - @ Ranjan , what am I supposed to do ? Get the power adaptor changed or is there a way which allows it to give limited power to the router? :S

I'd say look into your Windows logs (event viewer) to nail down what's actually causing the slowdown. The TCP fix is "supposed" to speed up your torrent downloads, not maintain your connection. It might be something as simple as faulty drivers for your LAN card. Check logs and post any warnings/ errors.

Edit: Just noticed, it happened even when u where on 32bit. If so, try using a discrete LAN card. Your onboard might be the problem here if it's not a modem problem as mentioned by Ranjan.

Just something I Noticed (If it has something to do with my problem , since the problem starts only when i start downloading through torrent client and yes any torrent client. Tried both Vuze and BitTorrent 6.0 , a month back vuze gave no problem , now both vuze and BitTorrent gives problem so there's nothing wrong with the torrent client as per me)

Suddenly speed's start dropping and then the error is showed in the next few images (down the page)

Now the problem steps in , The PC does not hang but it goes DAMN SLOW !! (Cursor takes ages to move etc.) Speeds drop, I lose connection to the internet , yahoo messenger , msn messenger , steam , browsing (firefox) and just everything!

^^ Please remove or blur out the first pic before someone catches you red handed with your downloading spree.:P
It seems your on board lan card is at fault. Borrow a discrete one from a friend and check if it makes any difference.

PS - The problem might have started after I installed Bit Defender Total Security on my PC ! (But i have the same anti-virus on my laptop with Windows XP SP3 32Bit , works without any problem)

Your problems are exactly the same which i was facing & airtel guy even told me that my onboard lan card seems to be faulty, so I switched to another port (I have 2 lan ports) but the problem remained.

I then connected the laptop & that too had the same issues after a while, so we concluded that problem could be the modem/lan cable/.............................last thing on our mind was power cable for the modem.

I don't use much torrent clients but I was having the same problems in general browsing & downloading files. Sudden drop of connection without any errors.

Try changing the power adapter, I am not sure if it solves the problem in ur case but last 24hrs I am running smooth & got back full speed of airtel.connection.

They both like you to keep guessing the solutions.

That seems to be a LAN card or modem problem. I just saw the same slowness on a PC today when the router was acting up with it's DHCP.

Have you tried to update your LAN card drivers? Give it a shot if you have not done that.

Problem wasn't there for a while , suddenly popped up again , i'll try doing an FTP download coz only when i open my torrent client and start downloading through it , the problem starts. (If i haven't opened any torrent client , the pc's working fine) I have also tried changing my torrent clients but no success (Vuze , Bit Torrent , uTorrent)
I've told the airtel guy to get me a new adapter , I'm on Beetel 440TXI Modem (Wi-Fi) and my laptop (Windows XP 32Bit SP3) on wireless works perfect without any fault(s).

To summarize it up , whenever i download anything from any torrent client be it Vuze , uTorrent , BitTorrent , i end up slowing down my pc after 5 minutes and along with it , it gives me an error saying Limited Connectivity (with a yellow exclamation mark on the right bottom of screen) and i loose connectivity to internet i.e no yahoo , msn , steam , firefox , everything!
I use Beetel 440TXI wi-fi modem (Black Colored) and am on a 512Kbps+ Unlimited connection by Airtel. Also this happens only when I'm downloading through torrents , please take that in mind.

PS - When i get disconnected to the internet , all the lights on the modem/router are on as usual and they don't go off , just i can't browse/download chat and anything related to the internet and pc goes slow (cursor moves slow etc , kind of dies as good as a hang :s).

I ll asked you to run an experiment. Install Zone alarm and block all internet activity to and from the torrent client. Try and see if you still get the slowness.

I suspect it could be a malware which actus up when there is activity on torrents. I hear such tactics are not below the RIAA,MPAA.

It could be the HDD activity on various partitions on drives which could be a problem ( although I doubt it) It happened to me when i used to use DC++ but usually for that to happen, speeds have to be wayy high.

I have a slightly different issue.. when uTorrent sucks my connection; my browsing fails totally. I mean I get all page cannot be displayed errors. Very weird..
Machine: Acer Aspire One
OS: Windows XP Home (32 bit)
ISP: TATA Indicom
Speed: 384 kbps
Wireless router: ProNET sumthing 110 MBps wala

uTorrent sucks the connection at constant 48 kbps but rest of the stuff doesn't even attempt to connect. And FYI I haven't given any bandwidth settings to uTorrent.

Dude i think it's not something to do with the router.
I changed the adapter today as well as the Lan wire , same problem still.
The thing here is , how can it be a hardware problem coz whenever the problem occurs in the pc i.e limited connectivity thing , I am still able to browse , use messenger , download off torrents on my laptop through wi-fi , so its got nothing to do with the ISP , lan cable , router.
Maybe it's bit defender acting here? I'll try uninstalling it and try downloading again!
Will update , but god knows why the f0rk is bit defender f0rking up my pc? It's a decent anti-virus none the less , but pftt..
Anyways , please help.
