^ I went through that post & the monitor he got was with 3 years warranty... Even the 9.3k quote is with 3 years warranty sans octroi... My brother will be in Mumbai next week so he can get it from PRIME & bring it with him....

My prejudice is that should I get the panel now or wait for the price drop which is rumored to be effective ~ year end...

@WingZero - that's rumored for mostly TN panels I guess....

If 40% price drop than sure to wait as it cost 3600/- less and just 4 months left to year end (December), sorry if you count March 09 as year end.

i got this same one for 9750 Rs 15 days ago from prime
5 yr assurance was worth that extra @ 9500 its a good deal

It's a very good deal IMO, just go for it, if you wait for price drop then something new came up and then again you wait for some more price cut.

LCD's have different market dynamics pertaining to current situation .. Its the only product with fastest falling prices 'coz of high supply & low demand.... Its simple economics...

I did looked around & spoke to few people & they are of the opinion that mostly TN prices will fall 'coz panel manufacturers (OEM) have surplus stocks which they need to offload in the market...

Also the news piece tells us that newer production facilities are churning out more panels than required...

Its true that the current price under the inflationary figures looks tempting but then the suspected price drop is also quite tempting.... Companies have the product & they can fill the market only now they are keeping these prices high under the guise of high input prices....

i called DELL regarding this.
they quoted 9700 + 4%VAT ==> Rs.10088/- with default 3yr warranty
and Rs.11883/- with 5 year extended warranty.

then i asked him discount but he didn't give any. i told him about this deal from prime and made open its website, he was Dumbstruck:bleh:

But on warranty front, he told any dealer can't offer any Warranty extension, as its done solely by Dell.

maybe prime had brought monitors in bulk in april and applied for warranty extension at that time. thats why warranty is showing april status.
