The E248WFP support Full HD (1080p); so the buy is definitely justified when u go for this entry level 24incher worth 20k (inc. of shipping).
And since u connect it to consoles as well, its certainly a good buy. :)
Whereas, the SP2208WFP supports 720p HD, its a good buy when u intend to watch 720p X264 rips and play games more often; it has got a CR of 2000:1 and an HDMI port as well; hence connectivity to ur console is much easier (whereas for the E248WFP, u'll need a HDMI-to-DVI connector).
The FX5200 is a very outdated card and it will not support HDCP. Period. So I guess HD is out of question???
Moreover I believe ur laptop has a VGA o/p (unlikely to have a DVI o/p unless it has a pwrful gfx onboard);
Anyhow I'd suggest u to buy a SP2208WFP; It should compliment ur console pretty much. :)

My Laptop has DVi output ...
Play Hd rips off my comp is dependent on the HDCP compliance of gfx??
So which one wud u suggest if i only require this for movies and consoles??

The E248WFP is around 3k more than the SP2208WFP;
In case, ur primary need is hooking up the LCD to a console for playing games, go for the SP2208WFP;
Else get the E248WFP;
PS: U'll need to invest in a separate HDMI-to-DVI connector to hook ur console to the E248WFP; since the SP2208WFP comes with an HDMI port, the need is eliminated. :D

Roughly <5$;
Here:
For only $2.33 each when QTY 50+ purchased - HDMI Male to DVI-D Female adapter | DVI <--> HDMI
Source it from KMD. :)

yea, i guess for around rs 50k for the whole system including the E248WFP, you can get a good CPU and GPU which can run almost all games at 1920x1200 at high settings.
heck, even my "standard" Q6600 with 8800GT/512 can run Crysis at high settings at a playable 25-30 fps on XP at 1920x1200 :) Other games like UT3, BioShock, CoD4 etc run at over 60 fps.
so if you are getting a new LCD at this time, the best compromise between size/price/performance is the E248WFP. Any thing else, you either pay more (for PVA panel) or lose Full HD resolution (for 22 inch)...

Well what child_bear said is right no matter whatever!! :P
1. Cos any day if a game can run smoothly on 24inchers, it can certainly do better on the 22 ones..
2. 24inchers at the moment do not strike a VFM deal; So paying 4k-5k extra is not really worth the 2inches of extra real estate IMO.
3. The SP2208WFP in particular, has an HDMI i/p so console users can rejoice. Its the cheapest LCD which retails with an HDMI i/p. Well, it cannot o/p 1080p so that can be an issue [Not really, Lol]..
If only the E248WFP retailed with an HDMI i/p. :(
PS: Dinesh, u seem to enjoy every pixel of ur US24incher.. :P

Well, if "Full HD" is not important to you, and gaming performance and HDMI etc connectors are more important, then I guess a 22 incher is a good option...

Full Hd is important but what i meant was tgat for gaming E24 is a compromise .. it has it own set of issues like ghosting and input Lag whereas SP dsnt have those .. But i wanted a monitor for console gaming/movies n nt PC games..
