Here goes my existing HCL Branded PC which i bought 4 years ago.
Intel P4 3.0Ghz
Asus P4P800 VM Mother Board
1.256 GB DDR RAM
17" LG CRT Monitor
Nvidia 6200 AGP graphics card.
But since all of its components like MB are outdated,i dont have flexibility to upgrade and hence going for a new PC.
Ok. Now let me tell me my usage:
1.Movies,Movies and Movies!(65% ORIGINAL DVD, 25% DVD Rips NO HD :( )
2.Web Browsing
3.DVD Ripping
4.C,C++,.Net,Java etc (Have to learn them now:P )
5.Photoshop.Actually it doesnt matter as i use it just as a hobby and that too i use it very very rarely,like once in a month MAX!
And Very Very Very rare gaming.So rare that i havent played a game from 2yrs.Main reason was lack of interest due to Sh!!!y Graphics card that i have:@
So now what i want is a PC that does the above job easily,though even my present PC does,but i want to upgrade.
DISPLAY :
I prefer a BIG Screen. 24" MINIMUM. The higher the better. Actually i thought of going in for a 32" LCD TV but i dont think my budget is sufficient,or is it possible to fit in a 32" LCD TV?(Even grey mkt will do,no prbs with that)
SOUND :
Since i watch lot of Original DVD movies or movies with 5.1ch surround, i want to go for some solid good speakers like Logitech Z-5500.
MISCELLANEOUS :
I also need some decent WIRELESS Keyboard and Mouse Combo.And a GOOD LOOKING case/cabinet.I dont want to store gold in rusted iron dubba:P
Also do i need any Remote like the Gyration Media Center Remote?I think i need:ohyeah:
Finally coming to my budget: Its Rs.60,000 can go up but only if its worth. As i always get last minute bonus from my dad! Once we went to purchase a mobile for 3k but he got me a Sony Ericsson W700i for 10k!
So please suggest me a decent rig.Hope all the details are clear.
And yeah,iam not an Intel or Amd fanboy.So will go for anything VFM

suggest you stick to a decent 2.1 The Z5500's will double your budget, and i can assure you that the surround is not worth it. in addition, it needs a digital input.
EDIT: on the other hand, you have money to spare , and its going to be for movies exclusively. Why not :D

Even now i have Altec Lancing 2.1 speakers(forgot the model no.) which are quite decent.
Why i want to go for good speakers(or in better words Sound) is because since i dont game, i dont think i need to spend a lot on CPU. And iam not sticking with anything.So will go for whatever you guys suggest.

How much are you planning to spend? There's a wharfedale + yamaha combo sold by designer audio for around 28k. It'll kick the z5500 to the moon.

I think its the wharfedale moviestar 60 and a cheap yamaha amp. Not sure what exactly is the model.

1. Monitor- Dell 24incher. Goodness of the Full HD.. U've 2 of 'em here. The basic no frills 24incher- E248WFP @ 18k or the Ultrasharp 2408WFP variant tat has HDMI inputs, a better S-PVA panel and USB hub + Memory card reader n so forth @ 25k.
As for 32inch LCDs, it wont be as good as 24incher LCD monitors fer comp usage. And getting the Full HD in 32inch LCD TVs're a lot costlier as obvious with the newly released Sony Bravia W series 32incher.
2. As Greenie mentioned, the Z5500 is on the costlier side. Mite fetch anything close to the 19k mark. Besides u need a separate APU to utilize the sheer power of the Z5500. Else u can look for the Altec lansing MX5021 which shud be around 6.5k or lesser. Sounds good fer all ur purposes.
3. Get a basic Logitech wireless combo for 1.2k. Get a CM 690 cabinet. The best VFM cabinet tat looks good and performs good. Shud fetch around 4.2k.

Yup, it does apparently :ashamed: but then , why would you want to buy digital speakers and then connect them via analog:bleh:

My recommendation would be get
AMD 4800+ or greater with any compatible mobo 6k
ATI HD3650 gfx card 5k
2GB RAM <2k
500GB HDD <5k
Auzentech HDA Xplosion 7.1 sound card 3k from burnz in the market
Logitec Z5550 20k approx
E248WFP 18k
a zebby bijli cabby for 1k is decent
and a POV black diamond PSU 2.7k
SATA DVD-RW 1.5k
total 63k approx
if ur dad gives u some extra get the ultrasharp variant

And in addition to that take these as a decent rig specs for a movie-cum-download machine:
AMD X2 4800+ - 3600;
AMD 780G based mobo - 5.5k or lesser. (look for a gigabyte model!!!)
2 GB Transcend JetRam DDR2 6400 - 2.1k or lesser;
Seagate 7200.11 320GB Single platter drive - 3500;
Samsung SH203D SATA DVD-RW - 1200;
Corsair VX450 PSU - 3.6k or Powersafe 500W - 2.5k;
CM690 cabinet - 4.2k;
Do a rough math on the total amount and hope tat ur dad overshoots d budget this time as well.. :)

Thanks a lot for your suggestions guys.
I cant think of going for wharfedale + amp @ 28k coz with 18k for monitor it will be ~45k! So iam left with 15k for CPU.So i dont think it is a good option.
Since i will watch more dvd or dvd rip movies, will there be a clarity problem with 24" @ Full HD because of to much stretching? And will there be black borders on top and bottom?
My sisters laptop LCD is horrible.Even if i move sceen a bit, all the whites will look Black! And it is totally unacceptable with so much colour change.
So what i want to know is will it be the same even with this 18k dell monitor?Though i can adjust with slight colour changes.

you can get a very decent CPU for 15k. And I'm sure you wont regret it .And even if your dad invests 5k, you will have everything you need :D
you will get black bars on any monitor since the rips are 16:9 and the monitors are 16:10

since you arent gaming , 15k is enough for the CPU
+1 with what gannu suggested , the gigabyte 780G based mobo costs 4.8

DVD rips are going to stretch which'll certainly not look good on tat beast of a monitor. Start downloading HD stuff.. ;)
Black borders on top n bottom will be there.. :)

Only English HD movies are available on net even then they are massive size of atleast 4GB so bandwidth is a problem.
