Strange though it may seem, the folks at Expreview believe it's true. 9800GX2 is supposed to appear on March 18 and 9800GTX on March 25!!!!!!!
are we supposed to believe that 9800GX2 is going to be a failure
wtf
:S :S :S
9800GTX will hit the market in March 25 - Expreview.com

Should have minor performance increments due to the bumped up clocks. And even then it'd be a better deal (if their were no improvements) simply because of the power consumption and heat dissipation on the 8800gtx, something that I'm thoroughly annoyed with on my card.
And btw the details on the net are mostly crap IMO. Why go with 512 MB of RAM, and why 256 bit I may ask. Why take backward steps? We want 384 bit GDDR3, and we want it at a minimum of 1.8 GHz and we demand at least 768 MB of it. A core speed of 675 MHz this time...C'mon Crysis, do your worst...

My god..
600USD fer the 9800GX2.. :O
As always, atrocious pricing fer nVidia cards.. :|
I swear Ati is going to make big bucks this time..
The 3870X2 jus fetches 400+ USD...

Not pretty much.. This is a different segment so mid-high range segment is barely affected..
The 8800GTX price may drop to 23-24k mark..
But as d days go by, u can witness minor price drops..
The 8800GT is currently retailing @ 12.5k fer some brands..
Tats ur best bet; better than the GTS.. :)

Don't double post mate...
@ mid range is already @ 200~220 US$ so hardly any price drops unless the 9600GT falls to 125$
8800GTX may fall or may be phased out. Remember its at 400~425US already. Indian prices count for sh1t. The vendors are grossly overpricing everything here.
I'd say wait for 2-3 months, then upgrade. The 8800GT may fall but you also may get more options...

Scourging Web as much as I can but very little info is forthcoming. So far there is not a "single leak" as far as games and 9800 GX2 is concerned. Nvidia is holding this card close to the chest ;)
Anyway here is a supposed benchie of 9800 GTX. A German website has run UT3 at 1600X1050 (4AA+8AF) with this card. 9800GTX scores 69 FPS and is beaten by 8800 Ultra by 9 FPS. 3870X2 is slower by 3 FPS while 8800 GTS comes last.
Of course nothing is official about it and sadly there is only a single benchmark
