Am planning to buy a netbook. Primary use would be checking mail, general browsing, some stock trading softwares like 'Diet Odin', and an occasional movie.
Am planning to buy it from US, through a friend, coming to India at the end of the year. Here are the options I have considered.
1. Asus 1001PXB - For $100 (Rs. 5300)

Intel® Atom™ processor N450- Features a 667MHz frontside bus, 512KB L2 cache and 1.66GHz processor speed.
1 GB DDR2 RAM
10.1" WXGA LED widescreen display (1024*600)
160 GB HDD
3 Cell Lithium-ion battery
Windows XP Home
2. Samsung N150 - For $180 (Rs 9500)

Intel® Atom™ processor N450;
1GB DDR2 memory;
6-cell lithium-ion battery;
10.1" WXGA LED widescreen display (1024*600)
160GB hard drive;
Windows 7 Starter

3. Asus 1015PEB, Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 - For $150 (Rs 8000)

Intel® Atom™ processor N450;
10.1" Widescreen Display
1GB DDR2 RAM
250GB Hard Drive
6 Cell Lithium-ion battery
Windows 7 Starter
Is the Atom N450 enough for my computing needs or would I need a dual-core? Is it worth to spend $50 more for the 6 cell battery over the $100 laptop? Also, among Windows XP and Windows 7 Starter, which one should be preferred in the case of netbooks with low computing power?
Dell and Asus have same config and same price, which would be a better choice if I opt to buy $150 netbook.

In these days, you need to consider buying atleast dual core processor. How about Asus SX013D with AMD Brazos APU. Its config is:

Brazos Dual Core C50

2 GB DDR3 RAM

15.6"

320 B HD

DVD RW

Other standard features

But you'll need to up your budget for this one. Should be around $350.
