Angry Virtual CD running from USB drive. HELP!

Ok, so any Canon Pixma MP160 buyer would know that they give a free 512 Trek Thumbdrive USB drive free.. but it also has a stupid feature. if you insert the usb drive, a virtual cd drive pops up and installs the crappiest Anti-Virus i've ever seen. ( its size is only 12mb BTW)

is there any way i can remove this stupid cd drive like partition from my usb drive? disabling Autorun on each and every pc i want to use this sub drive on is not an answer..
and formating it doesnt help.

PuhLEEZE help!

Nice article on U3 drives ms_mahu. Btw, instead of editing the registry to disable autorun on USB drives, I would suggest that one use TweakUI for WinXP. It's small and hence easy to download and saves one from the fuss of editing the registry.

Firstly confirm if its a U3 device. If it is, there should be a U3 menu allowing you to "uninstall" the U3 virtual drive platform (atleast there is one on mine) and would even allow you to disable programs from auto-launching.

If you format it, autorun will not be able to run said AV from the drive seeing as how the AV installer will not exist on the drive.

Firstly, its NOT a U3 device.

Secondly, regarding the "formatting". How will i format it? when i insert teh USB drive.. TWO drives open. one USB drive, one (virtual) cd. i can format only the USB drive na! the CD still remains as such!!!
