Dumbo Sad HD Tach scores

I guess these are really bad scores. System is an amd athlon x2 7750be on a gigabyte ga-ma78gm s2h. Is there anything I can check to diagnose the issue before I RMA this.

Its working in PIO mode maybe, renable DMA.

Have a look at this link DMA reverts to PIO | Windows Problem Solver / http://sniptools.com/vault/getting-b...-in-windows-xpto make winxp to redetect the dma capabilities of your drive.

Bad cable is one of possible causes for HDD/DVD Writer falling back to PIO mode.

Great link there SP. I guessed it was some issue like this but didn't know the exact terms so couldn't find it on google.

I had a bad data cable couple of weeks back. Changed it and the hard disk started working but when I tested it today found that it was super-slow. Seems windows didn't reset the drive back to DMA. (stooopid windows). Anyway followed the instructions in the link posted by SidhuPunjab and here's the result. Thanks guys.
