    My Corsair Flash Voyager works properly with all the computers I have tried it with.

    When I connect my Corsair 8 GB Flash Voyager to my new Philips HTS3265 HTiB it cannot detect the device. The same HTiB correctly detects and plays from my Transcend 512 MB drive. The Corsair is FAT32 formatted while the Transcend is FAT.

    Yesterday, I borrowed my friend's 16 GB Corsair Flash Voyager and tried it on my HTS and it detected and played fine. That too is formatted FAT32.

    I had observed in a past too that it didn't work with our Kodak DPF while the transcend worked. I ignored it assuming that the DPF did not support such large drives. Need to check its documentation now.

    Philips CC told me to reformat and try but the result is still the same.

    Anyone has a clue what could be wrong?

    Can I RMA the drive? Do I have reason to complain when it works with computers?

    ^P.S : sadly in our state of affairs locally atleast u cant RMA anything that WORKS! it will come back to you saying it working and getting detected and can transfer stuff back and forth....



    if i were in ur place - i would email corsair support (corporate/HO) and get an approval for a replacement....send pictures / screenshots as proof of what exactly is the problem. Also show them that ANOTHER Corsair can do the same thing while ur pen drive can't. lastly they wouldnt like comparing it with any other brand so mention abt the transend saying if a transend can do play well - and hence there is something faulty with ur drive.

    I posted my problem on the Corsair support forum.

    I got this answer from RAM GUY (Corsair Product Guru)

    That is not uncommon most of our flash drives use a HUB based controller and if the device you are using cannot access a USB Drive through a USB HUB then our drives may not be compatible with that device.
    I replied saying that as long as it conforms to USB interface standards, shouldn't it be expected to work? Does that mean that the Flash Voyager is a non-standard USB implementation? Doesn't that mean Corsair's implementation choice renders my drive incompatible with my HT and DPF? I have subsequently tried and found it isn't recognized by my Samsung LCD TV too. Should I be paying the penalty for Corsair's decision to go with a non-standard implementation?

    To which he responded:

    The drives are only advertised to be compatible with Computer PC's using Windows or Linux or Mac O.S. We have never claimed compatibility with other devices using USB drives, did you ask the manufacturer if it would be able to use a USB drive through a USB HUB?
    I asked him why should the Flash Voyager be compatible only with equipment that can use a USB drive through a USB hub? Secondly, if that is an issue then how come my friend's 16 GB model of Flash Voyager is detected and plays flawlessly on the same HT setup? I also mentioned that I am very disappointed because this was my primary intended use.

    No response yet.

    Anybody who wants to consider buying a Corsair Flash Voyager for use with anything other than a PC please be warned about this issue.

    Continuing the saga....

    yesterday I tried with a 8GB OCZ. works fine.



    So the score at the moment is:

    works with my 512 MB Transcend.

    works with friend's 16GB Corsair.

    works with friend's 8 GB OCZ.



    Does not work with my 8GB Corsair.

    I also tried using a USB hub and found that the Philips HT does not detect any drive connected through the hub.

    Corsair support seems to think that I have nothing to complain about since they claim it to work on a Windows or Mac computer.

    I feel cheated because I feel my problem is caused because of Corsair's non-standard implementation.

    All those who are considering buying Corsair be warned that your drive may not work if you try to use it with anything other than a PC.

    Plug your 8Gb Corsair pendrive to some faulty usb connector and make it in not working condition and Get a New RMA. "TIT FOR TAT"

    Don't have the heart to do that but the guy at the Corsair support forum is clearly pushing me in that direction with his blinkered attitude.

    I would appreciate if someone here can throw some light on the normal USB implementation for flash drives v/s the hub based one. If there are any links to describe the difference in the two interface standards it would help.

    The Corsair guy sent me a link of the SD card association which has a description of flash memory specs and has nothing to do with the usb interface.

    the corsair 4 gb flash voyager i have works with y sony music system - don't know model number--but i can connect it using the usb slot on the music system and it plays music in the pen drive.

    also corsair will replace ur drive on the spot - i went with a copy of my bill and in 5 mins came out with a brand new 4gb corsair pen drive.

    That is great if it works. Would you please give me the address and contact info where I can get my Flash Voyager exchanged?

    I had also put things like brand T and brand O in the thread but they censored it even though I had not actually named OCZ or Transcend.

    I have been having a discussion with the Corsair guy in their support forum.

    As mentioned, he says Corsair sometimes uses a hub controller in their pen drives for improved performance.

    My HTS doesn't seem to support connection through a hub. I have tried it. I conclude that my Corsair Flash Voyager does not work with the HTS because of the hub based implementation.

    They contend that Corsair anyway just claims compatibility with Windows and Mac systems.

    Is there anyone here on TE who can either explain the difference between the interface of a normal pen drive and a hub or point me to some good resource for revealing the same?

    My Flash Voyager had been purchased from Primeabgb. Where do I have to go to get it exchanged?

    How do I know the new one will work with the HTS?

    corsair gives direct replacement for their products--show them the bill and take your brand new pen drive --or whtever corsair product you have on the spot and no questions asked and usually there's no waiting time.

    kaizen infoserve is the service center for corsair.

    search for you city in kaizen's website.

    i gave my corsair 4gb drive and got a brand new drive in like 2--3 minutes.

    OK Got it. Located at Lamington Road. But wont they first check it and find it is working?
