Default new seagate 500gb harddrive...

i wasnt sure where this would go, but i just installed a new 500gb barracuda, but it doesnt show up in my computer, i found it in device manager and it is working, but still not showing up in my computer... Any ideas?

external or internal

if you have external HDD.

change the port for usb and try

internal... i tried all the different jumper settings just in case, even switched the sata slot it was in...

Have you made the partitions and formatted the HDD ? If not then go to Disk Management and do this first.

Ok. This is something which i done and it worked. I dont know but it did. Put your windows xp cd and boot from the cd. Click on fresh install but select the new hard drive. Partition the drive and let it format the the first partition on the new hd. After formating, exit the installation and boot to windows. Go windows explorer and format both the new drives.

Control Panel>Adminstrative Tools>Computer Management > Storage>Disk Management

Here you can see your 500Gb drive (465.76GB Partioned space will be shown). Format this drive and create partition. It'll be shown in the My computer.

control panel --> administrative tools --> computer management --> disk management

here you should be able to see all the drives.

right click on the drives for more options.

Make sure that Disk Management shows this as a "Basic" drive and not a "Dynamic" drive under the column "Type"
