PC Peripherals Need Advice on Buying a Power Supply for My PC

4.2k, 4.5k... never mind these price differences, just spill out some models that are a better design than the S12II 520 at WHATEVER price its selling for!! Apart from the VP550P which is out of stock everywhere, I could not find convincing options. I said the GS500 is not the best quality...

PC Peripherals Need Advice on Buying a Power Supply for My PC

How many PSUs are there for 4k that are built better than the S12 II 520? Why are you recommending a PSU with a negative outlook that it IS going to fail and he WILL need service? Your product recommendation seems entirely based on service >> performance. It shouldn't matter if its a brand...

PC Peripherals Need Advice on Buying a Power Supply for My PC

I read it. It does well, but the cost cutting is evident. Even the Antec received a higher rating. Is there something specific you wanted me to see? Don't forget that Corsair started with the excellently built Seasonic S12II based VX450. Is their current entry level worth comparing? Not...

Monitors 23 inch led monitor vs 27 inch tv

Which 23" monitor and 27" tv? The panel type like IPS, TN, PVA matters more than LED or CCFL backlighting. Your TV resolution will also matter if you're reading text, but not for gaming.

PC Peripherals Need Advice on Buying a Power Supply for My PC

Is A.S.S more important than quality of a product? Corsair has only junk in the low-end segment these days. The GS series is just an overrated CX unit (1st page of the HWsecrets review says that). Teapo caps on secondary side? Now that corsair warranty seems necessary! Antec VP450 Power Supply...

    CPU/Mobo Suggest a Motherboard.

Your CPU model could be either a P4 53x or a 63x if its 3.0ghz and LGA 775. The CPU support list is not entirely accurate. As Alpha says they usually focus on supporting newer processors, so they dont bother testing older models. The gigabyte board you mention supports a 2.8 GHz prescott...

    CPU/Mobo Suggest a Motherboard.

Is your P4 an LGA 775 socket chip? If so that G41 board should work. Depends if you need more RAM. For price reference, 1GB DDR2 and 2GB DDR3 cost approx 700 bucks.

    PC Peripherals Cleaning CPU/mobo case

Use a vacuum cleaner only if it has a blower mode. Not otherwise. Your heatsink though can be vacuumed without problem, but only after you remove it from the motherboard. As everyone has said, just take a cloth and wipe it, and use a brush for difficult areas. Compressed air can is easy...

PC Peripherals Corsair XMS3 DDR3 heating way too much

55C seems ok. Check RAM voltage in BIOS to make sure its not over volted. A post by a GSkill tech says max temps are 80 to 90C - http://www.gskill.us/forum/showpost.php?p=45028&postcount=5

PC Peripherals Multiple Problems with self assembled PC

You may not need to change the case. Start with the PSU for now. The capacitor popping is almost certainly because of the PSU, not the dust. OEM systems have largely narrowed the price gap vs assembled systems, and also come with 3 yr warranties. So overall they're not a bad choice if...

OC & Modding Can I RMA my CPU cooler ??

Scratches on the cooling panel? Do you mean the surface which makes contact with the CPU? Depends how big the scratch is. Usually minor scratches are handled by the thermal paste.

Can This RJ 45 Cable Be Repaired?

Is there something special about this cable that I'm not seeing? Its frayed, kinked and with a coupler, performance is bound to drop. Even if its repaired for 50 or so, its just not worth it.

Storage Solutions External HDD From US?

Yup thats what I meant by "stored carefully". Hard to achieve careful storage.. maybe. Not practical for massive data.. agree. Just wanted to correct you when you said optical disks suck for long term purpose, considering they are rated for a much higher shelf life. And current gen hard...

PC Peripherals PC keeps turning itself off..clueless

Looks like the power supply. Try unplugging the 4850 and running on IGP to see if its overloaded. Otherwise reassemble the system to rule out any possible short circuits. Just an additional note, its possible for temperatures to drop off within 2 minutes.
