i checked online for the 6 battery pack and it's 100$ on amazon. that's kind of expensive for a 350$ machine but what can you do eh
have you considered flashing your bios? there's a guide here which tells you how to do it. right now i'm on version 3114 and the latest out is 3309. there do seem to be some good enhancements in the bios revisions but the aspire one is notorious for having bios issues so i'm a little reluctant to do it. especially since there is no straightforward way to do it short of creating your own bootable pendrive to run it. one would think acer would provide a somewhat simpler solution to flash the bios. | To see 224 MB - right click on Display and click on properties. Go to settings and click on Advanced. Click on Adapter tab and you see it.
Yep I update bios to 3308 from within Windows with their Winflash or something. Everything went smooth for me. Last time i check the latest bios was 3308 and not 3309. Lemme check though. | | | | | Re: Review: Acer Aspire 'ONE': Windows Version, 1Gb RAM/120Gb HDD | | | | | Re: Review: Acer Aspire 'ONE': Windows Version, 1Gb RAM/120Gb HDD the latest official bios available on the acer websites is 3308. however, users at forums like AspireOneUser.com - Acer Aspire One Resource Forum & Blog all refer to using the newest 3309 bios.
here's a link for it - macles*: Acer Aspire One BIOS 3309
not sure how these people are getting a bios that isn't officially released but they are.
the blog i linked in this post is actually pretty good. the user comments over there do refer to quite a few bios issues and even on other forums, i see people moving back and forth between various bios revisions, and some even revert to 3114.
could you provide a little more detail about flashing the bios using winflash? all i've been able to come up with so far is the method of creating a bootable memory stick to execute it. | | | | | Re: Review: Acer Aspire 'ONE': Windows Version, 1Gb RAM/120Gb HDD Quote:

seriously though, it's not such a bad idea to flash the bios. an alarmingly high number of users of the aspire one running the default bios have reported that the netbook just stops working sometimes... it kind of gets stuck on the POST screen and doesn't move forward. this is some kind of known issue that was resolved with the 3304 bios. i haven't faced the problem yet but it's always good to take care of it if possible.
there are other improvements as well, including a vga bios update that occurs with a total bios flash which is supposedly better for vram allocation, which was my first issue in this thread. on the downside, i'm hearing that flashing the bios (and specifically with winflash) the cpu fan gets screwed and temperatures start going through the roof. however corleone mentioned he had a perfectly successful winflash so all in all it's still up in the air as to what's going on with the aspire one and it's bios revisions. | |

OK It's quite simple actually. Download the appropriate firmware.
Extract it's contents and you see two folders:
1. winflash
2. FW Folder
Copy the .fd fw file from the firmware folder to the winflash folder.
Load the winflash proggy InsydeFlash and it'll straight away as you to update. It'll the current bios version and the new version as well.
Be sure to close all proggy from background as a precautionary measure that nothing interferes with the process.
You are done. | | | | | Re: Review: Acer Aspire 'ONE': Windows Version, 1Gb RAM/120Gb HDD Quote:

I always like to stay the latest and so I upgraded the bios. Not at all cumbersome with winflash.
I still won't suggest you upgrade to 3309 as it's not officially released and you may void your warranty in this case.
