Sound quality

I was expecting a lot from these, as they were my first philips cans. At first they didn't sound right (They probably need some sort of break-in period) but after a day or two of EQ tweaks and bass heavy house the SHP2700's bass is tighter and has considerably more impact. These are excellent cans if you can Work the EQ settings well ! They offers more clarity, listening to bass heavy music with vocals (Mos) is enjoyable and distortion free even at higher volumes.
A huge improvement over my crappy xd-100 which had weak constricted bass at higher volumes.I've spent some time with my brother's shp-805's , and noticed that these have better lower frequency reproduction than the 805's

Comfort:
They've got good soft cushioning , Outside sound isolation is fair. Nothing new here,The fit and feel is similar to the 805's.

Testing:
I tested these headphones with varying genres of music (320kbps) :

Santana ft Chad Kroeger - into the night
Sorry blame it on me - Akon
The way i are - Timbaland
Pink floyd the psychedelic years- Incredible bbc sessions
In search of sunrise ibiza mixes - Dj tiesto
Eric prydz dirty disco
The asot's never sounded better !!!
I'm not an Audiophile or even close to it, but do have musically trained ears.

Gripes-

Didn't like the ear cushioning material of the used ,Faux leather would have been better.
The long cord should have been thinner and lightweight.
Only one colour
Chrome plated connector instead of gold.

Some pics -

Thanks for reading y'all . It would be great if one of the Te audiophiles reviewed these and arrive at a verdict for the best cans in the budget category.

Nice review... although they look just like my old HP800 cans, fall in the same price bracket as well... I doubt they'd sound any better....

Can you guys suggest me anything better???

Well they do sound better than the shp805's,(I compared the two) philips has improved their headphone line-up over the years. With the shp800 being a five year old model i'm pretty sure they aren't selling the same stuff in a new body

woah nice
I guess then the HP805 gets the bang for buck award then
one more thing, how loud is it ? i mean, when you're listening to music at full volumes, will it disturb others ?

Build quality seems good. The build quality of the XD series is typical chinese plastic. Btw, where are the cans made?

These look very similar to the hp800, which were head and shoulders above the hp805. Ren, watch out for the joint between headband and driver cup. It's extremely fragile.

These will be clearly audible to somebody sitting in the same room at about 10-15 feet from you. They're made in china like all the others .
@Zop - I'm very careful with these, atleast for now.

ABSOLUTELY TRUE mate!!! I had a fight with my sister over who will test it first and the first joint came out AT THE VERY FIRST DAY (Actually two hours right after I bought it...) and the second joint came out an year and a month later...

What did I use to join it back???

M-Seal

And yeah... for Araldite, Feviquick and other such benzene based stuff...
STAY AWAY!!! I used it prior to using M-seal... Man it didnt fix and to top it all it took out the wire of the headphone as well...

Then I had to cut the plastic and sew thin GI wire (before applying M-seal that is...)
