Those who want to add the PLF repo.. that have all the extra 3rd part codecs and software .. Simply go to Easy Urpmi .. Select the distri ver.. click on Add PLF Media.. That will do the job .. in the add remove program search for real Media Codecs, Win32 Codecs and libdvdcss codec .. If thta doesn;t work for some reason Open Konsol and do these

urpmi.addmedia 'PLF Free' 'ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandriva/2008.1/free/release/binary/i586'
urpmi.addmedia 'PLF Non-free' 'ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandriva/2008.1/non-free/release/binary/i586'

Then after that install few codecs

Code:

urpmi win32-codecs
urpmi libdvdcss
urpmi real-codecs

Now you will be able to run any Media format via Kaffeine

If you want to find software not available in Mandriva repositories , find it here Rpmfind mirror .. Before download the package make sure it is under Mandriva 2008.1 section

wanted to know that if i install this and then mandriva 2008.2 comes up, will i have to download it again or will i be given an option to update online using the update manager?

p.s asking this w.r.t the powerpack

I guess you can only buy a single release with powerpack, i.e. cannot upgrade to the newer powerpack editions, unless you purchase an yearly subscription.

By the way, the next iteration would be Mandriva 2009.

I missed an important point

, that Mandriva comes with Full EEE PC support and you get Online Support and help especially for EEE PC for Power Pack edition

Some suggestions:
1) Please include the download links (for downloading the distro) in the review too.
2) Please avoid using words like "I was shocked to see". Instead u can use "I was pleased to see".

Installed Mandriva on more than 30 computers today

and 2 laptops.. Wow it configured all the ATI and nvidia drivers and Compiz out of the box.. Every one was stunned to see the eye candy
