Cool Conclusion

Conclusion

People on a sub-12k budget can get the E198WFP eyes closed. I can say that you won't regret it. The monitor is stylish, performs well and is a good VFM. Its all black design along with a classy base attracted me. If you like a bit of silver lining to go with the black and a silver rectangular base, go for the SE198WFP. Currently, its going for much cheaper than E198WFP due to reasons best known to Dell. People on a slightly higher budget can look for E228WFP. Many members here have got the 22-inch model and its exactly the same in looks and almost the same in specs.

I know this one is a really short review but I don't know what else to put in here. This is my first attempt at reviewing any computer hardware. I didn't want to do this review but had to write something due to repeated requests from Raghu and others. I know its not quarter as comprehensive as you'd have liked but I'm happy to have shared my opinion with you all. Don't hesitate to point out the mistakes and please leave your feedback.

You have been looking at TE through a 15" CRT all these years

I don't have a calibrator and I don't intend to get one. I'll try and find the calibrated settings for this monitor from somewhere.

Thanx but I won't be able to post any gameplay screenies due to two reasons. My 6600GT went kaput this morning and I don't have a decent enuf digicam with me.

Yeah...didn't have enough money. Finally I'm able to lay my hands on an LCD.

Thanks to espeez for lending me the spyder which I gotta return to him once I'm back in bangy .

Please keep RGB at max and Brightness at 50/Contrast at 75 with color management disabled in the menu.

@Chaos:
Thanks for the settings. It looks much better now. Isn't the contrast a bit low though?

@sTALKEr:
Thanx. I haven't decided anything yet.

This is great monitor, if I'm not wrong I was the first member on TE to get it from Raghu, but I couldn't post up a review since I had no camera

Great review nonetheless.

Short and sweet.

There are custom resolution launchers available for NFS:MW and Carbon, that allows the games to look 'correct' in widescreen resolutions. Obviously the 2D screens (driver selection and game video) are still stretched out but the rendered images all look fine.

Been using them ever since I got my VX2235WM.

Oblivion supports 1680 and so does DiRT, both out of the box. As a matter of fact they support lower widescreen resolutions in the same 16:10 format so if your graphic card has problems you can run it at a lower resolution without the game stretching.
