AMD Athlon II x2 240 + biostar a785ge = ~6k

or


Intel E5300 + Gigabyte GA-G31-S2L = ~5.7k

The AMD combo is anyday much better than the Intel combo since you have mentioned the word "Gaming".

The ATI HD4200 is much better than the Intel X4500 in gaming related matters.

ok. i was a little worried cause the biostar mobo isn't available easily. I thought the poor demand was because of some issues with it.

Anyone know where I can get it in NP?

AMD is better option running on stock CPU without any addon GPU but no match for G31+E5300@3.5Ghz+GPU having better performance then AMD combo you are looking to buy.

Plan to juice it up with a 4850/4870 later on.
