    Processor: AMD AthlonII X2-240 - 3k

Motherboard: Biostar A785GE - 3.3k(HD 4200 is a very good IGP. Plays HD with eaze and directX 10.1 complaint)

    RAM: Transcend 2GB DDR2 800MHz - 2.1k

I think this would be pretty much sufficient for your needs

If you feel you need DRRIII, then

    Processor: AMD AthlonII X2-240 - 3k

    MSI 785GM-E51 - 4.6k AM3 DDR3

    RAM: Transcend 2GB DDR3 1333MHz - 2.6k

    Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz @ 3k

    MSI 785GM-E51 AM3 DDR3 @ 4.6k

    2GB Transcend DDR 3 -1333 MHZ @2.6k

    Gigabyte Superb 460w @ 2.1k

Onboard graphics are ATI 4200 which are powerfull enough to take care of your requirements. the Mobo is DDR3, so future RAM upgrades won't be costly like hell.the CPU has enough juice for your requirements. if you want something more powerfull you can change it with Athlon II X4 620 @ 5.3k.

PS: you won't be able to use your 5yr old PSU because newer mobo has 24pin connector, while your PSU might have only 20pin.

yes the older psu has 20 pin only

i nned to change that as well . i just noticed!

i think i dont need ddr3 config 2gb DDR2 wud be more than enough

    i m currently using 512mb since 5 years ,

the current rig is still good enough for my requirements and i dont think my requiremnts r going to change in next 5 years , i m upgrading just because my rig is too old , and i want to sell it and get some moolah before it dies

i just feel my pc slows down quite a bit while using multiple tabs on firefox

and my mobo has no sata port , need that to buy 1TB HDD

i think amd x2-240 with biostar 758GE mobo wud be good enough

and i heard there r few problems with that mobo -- any issues ?? , i read it somewher at TE only i guess i dont remember exact!!

    @Gaurish-

I dont think you need a Gigabyte 460w. A zebby Pro 350w~1.5k or a SagaII 350w~1.6k will do the trick and ya 2Gb of any RAM would be surplus for a basic PC.

    i) Ya, especially as corsair RAM's carry a 10-yr warranty(considering you keep the rig for 5 years).

ii)Till now not much negative comments about the motherboard in TE. Only issue is availability. A.S.S. from abacus peripherals(Biostar distributors) also seems to pretty ok.

iii)Ya we OC it easily esp. with so much guides around but it doesnt OC as much as the E5200.

I think your PC may be slowing down while using Firefox due to the old processor.

Why dont you try out Opera?

I agree that you wont get the add-ons but at least your PC remains zippy.

2GB DDR3 is Rs. 2.6k? :S in that case DDR3 makes sense along with a new PSU definitely.

But yes, gap between DDR2 and DDR3 is narrowed to few hundred rupees now. It due to huge increase in DDR2 prices and gradual decrease in DDR3 price.

I am guess, they would ends would meet very soon and the story might change altogether

but how much diff does DDR2 or DDR3 make in performance!

even if ddr3 cost 2.6 k , i ll have o buy a ddr3 compatible mobo as well which is also 1k higher than the normal one

so total increase in cost wud be ~1.6 k- 1.8k!

is that worth viz a viz performance gain considering that i wont be running much core related applications or processes

Stick with DDR3......get the cheapest ram now. upgrade whne prices of DDR3 fall.

DDR2 prices will surely go up and will get outdated. SO its better to buy a future proof PC.

And any1 mentioned Opera? its damn fast.........has got lot of features and addons too

IMHO E5300 is overkill, used E21XX @ 1.8-2k~ is good VFM.

CM Elite 334 is POS @ 2.4k, bundled fans are leaf blowers. U will regret buying Elite 33X + better fans over stock Antec 300 (3.8k).

CM 310 @ 1.6k or Zebronics Bijli is the best bet.

Looks like you have similar needs like me:

    http://www.techenclave.com/pc-periph...de-145416.html

    http://www.techenclave.com/pc-periph...-146470-2.html

I know you are on a low budget but Still I would suggest you to go for a 80 plus efficiency PSU. if you want to save, save on cabby. buy any generic cabinet which is big and has proper air flow.
