Looks good, most of the choices are to be made on personal preference honestly speaking...

Motherboard: Consider DFI/Gigabyte options as well...

For the RAM, get The OCZ Flex 3x2 GB 1600Mhz CL7 DDR3 kit instead of the OCZ gold, its available for a steal.(check for clearance though)
Or, if you want higher stock speeds go for the Gskill Trident 2000Mhz CL9 3x2 GB DDR3 kit.
Both kits are amazing value.

For the cabinet, look at the NZXT Tempest, again great VFM. There are some other options you can consider as well.

HDD: Seagate 7200.12 500GB single platter / WD 500GB for a bit more peace of mind.

Keyboard/Mouse: Razer Deathadder + Tarantula/Lycosa(dust magnets)

Monitor: Samsung 23 inch is a great choice, there is a bit of backlight bleed but it makes up with its price: performance ratio.

SMPS: A Corsair HX620 should do nicely...

for the SMPS get a 620HX for 7.5k. for the cabby a Nzxt tempest or antec 900 ( costing 6k and 7.5k respectively).

Get Gskill trident 1600MHZ CL6 for 150$ or 2000MHZ CL9 for 140$.

thats a good config.
For cabby, if u want Air Flow, then Coolermaster HAF 922 is the best bet (6.7k max).
Or NZXT tempest
Or Antec 900
all are in 6-7k range.

And go for atleast 500 GB HDD (2.7k max).

When will you people understand that core i7 is far superior to core i5. I feel an itch my hand right now.

Just go for in for something like a GTX260 until the dx11 cards from nVidia are going to release their dx 11 cards ( Ati is gonna get pwned).

oh my bad.........i duuno tht i7 is superior to i5.....

@OT -Sry for not making my reasons clear for suggesting i5. As ur rig is for gaming perfomance diff is very less between (high end)9XXX, phenom II's and i7's.

many of my frns own i7 rigs and thts according to them. i7 is more into productivity/workstation work than gaming. And there is also a rumour of i5 optimized for gaming........hence my suggestion.

^U are a fanboy, so plz refrain frm making comments for ur own good.(I own NVIDIA and i like ATI more for reasons but i am not a fan-they dont give me anything free).

Get the i7 only. But wait get i7 860 the LGA 1156, it has 95W TDP and performance is on par with 920 Core i7-860 Tested: Faster than Core i7-920 - Expreview.com

Ofcourse these are unofficial results and can be wrong as well but the TDP is what matters more

My relative who is gonna get me the mobo, CPU, Gfx and RAM is currently in the states...He leaves on the 8th....I live in New Delhi and I will be getting the rest of the stuff from Nehru Place, SMC International, specifically so I hope the items you guys have mentioned will be available there...

1)Thanks for all your inputs guys... I will be getting the OCZ Flex 3x2GB 1600 or the G.Skill Trident 1600 instead of the OCZ Golds

2) I wanted to get the Mobo, Processor, Gfx Card and the RAM sticks from the states since they are not too bulky....If you think that the price difference from the states price and the Indian prices is less than a k for any of the parts ive mentioned, then please tell me which one so that I rather get it from India.
Ex: Core i7 costs around 270$=13.5k if bought from the states...whats the Indian price??

3) Should I wait for the new Corei5's and Corei7's??? When will they hit the Indian market because I want my rig ready by mid september at the very max...I hadnt gamed much in my 11th and 12th....Im sorta desperate now...
In college, I guess our exams are in Jan and Im doing Math hons so I dont wanna get a PC too close to that or everything might be lost lol....

4) Since new dx11 Gfx cards are coming, do you think its viable to wait for that and just settle down with a 260gtx for now? Suppose I just a get a 260 for now, when the new dx11 cards come out and I get one, what will happen to the 260??? Will it go to waste?

5) I wanted a Blue LED case like the NZXT Tempest or the Antec 900....Haf is red LEDS i guess...but then you can always put in your own leds right which i should order from xoxide.com or should i get them from india only? Ive never assembled my PC before so I hope you guys will be able to help me through that when I have the parts in my hand....I hope the Tempest and 900 are available at SMC or any other shop in Nehru Place....

2. i7 920 costs 14500-15000/- Try to get the popular D0 stepping.

3. yeah, you can wait for the new i7s. They are expected in late september - early october. The prices of the existing i7s may drop also.

4. Its much wiser to wait for the DX11 cards. The ATI DX11 cards like 5870,5850 will be launced on 10th september. The initial price will be high in India as usual. Bad luck for you as your relative is leaving on 8th. Try if you can convince him/her to delay the departure by 3-4 days. You won't regret. The GTX 260 won't be wasted, but the market price may be slashed and you will get a poor resale value.

5. NZXT is available in India.

get the core i7 920, the Evga X58 LE SLI, Gskill Trident 1600MHZ. from the US then a GTX285.

As for the gaming disable HT in the BIOS if you are going to play anything except crysis, COD5,GTA4. Even for normal computing or stuff that is not multithreaded disable it.
