Default Need low budget PC component for upgradation

i know this is a common issue that everyone asked when buying a new PC... but as time changes good products also change its seat according to price factor....i need to upgrade my sis's pc so here is my needs for ...

Budget -7K

Processor - preferred Intel
Motherboard - with onboard graphics & LAN & x16 PCIe
RAM - 4 DIMMs preferred
Other components will be taken from old m/c

Purpose - General, office works, light gaming, internet, AutoCAD etc... NO heavy games or multimedia

this is all about for now... ur opinion will be very helpful for me to choose products that can be used for at least 2 yrs for d above purpose...

if u need a combo in 7k wid a good mobo, u should go in for amd. the amd 690g mobo from asus (M2A-VM) and 4400+ can b a gr8 option. and it has got 4 DIMMs and dual channel ram.

NO OC & VFM => AMD
although if you can get an intel for about the same price if you can make do with a board with 2 DIMMS

Asus M2A-VM and AMD X2 4400+. each shud cost around 3.3k (not sure though). total wud b around 6.6k.

^ thx but what about a 1GB ram.... i think price doesn't stay within 7K even if i buy 512MB... any more suggestion keeping all within budget

then u can go for 4200+ if u want to accommodate 1gb ram.

Last month I too upgraded my PC with a Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.5GHz 1MB L2 cache Rs.3200
Asus M2A - VM AMD 690G and SB600 Chipset Rs . 3350

U can consider the following Combination as well, its very good value for money.

Processor AMD Dual Core(AM2)

Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.5GHz 1MB L2 cache 3600
Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz 1MB L2 cache 4550
Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz 2MB L2 cache 4750
Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.8GHz 2MB L2 cache 5800

Motherboard (AM2) Integrated Graphics.

Jetway JM2A692GDG (AMD 690G) Rs . 2,600/-
Asus M2A - VM AMD 690G and SB600 Chipset Rs . 3350

A u r using the system also for AutoCAD I recommend Any 780G based chipsets for Good IGP & Performance ~Rs . 4,500/-



Also Check out for AMD Athlon X2 4850e processor, in the market.

List of 780G integrated chipset motherboards.
1) Gigabyte board, the GA-MA78GM-S2H

3) check out for the features on other New boards from Biostar, MSI etc...

U can opt for MSI K9AGM2-FIH Motherboard with AMD 690G and SB600 chipsets, for Rs.2,500 which is a very good Value for money.
It also had a HDMI connector, which be used to hook the PC up to a high-definition television; A mobo from Asus with similar features costs Rs.4,500

With a Athlon 64 X2 5200+ 2.6GHz 2MB L2 cache processor for Rs.4750; u can get it in your budger of Rs.6,000 for the mobo+processor combo.

oye, all these are nice, but his budget is only 7k
PS : you got the ati video drivers running fine on the M2A VM ?
me waiting for someone to do so before installing them on mine

My M2A VM drivers r running fine, You can Install them from the given Motherboard DVD, after installing ur OS.

I am running on Ubuntu Linux 7.10 64-bit & all the drivers are preInstalled on them except, Graphics.

U can Upgrade ur ATI Graphics from the site Drivers & Software
(Choose ur OS version, product family and the product.) For M2A VM its Integrated/Motherboard & select Radeon X1250

I installed compiz fusion through Terminal, doesn't remember the commands now.

argh, what i meant was , compiz fusion needs ATi hardware drivers, which I'm not sure run reliably. Was asking you if they do run without issues
