Default Doubts building new rig.

hi,
Im planning to set up a new rig but a bit confused, this is purely for gaming
budget is around 55k-60k

1.Should i go for a Intel Based Core i7 920 or save some money there and
opt for a AMD Phenom x4 940 with SLI

2.If AMD plz suggest me a good mobo (upto 10k) for OC'ng

3.I already own a 8800gts 512mb(G91) ..but havent used at yet ..will the performance be affected if i go for sli with AMD processor ?? (most of em go for
amd+ati) but i already own a gfx and cant sell it off now

4.Will this gfx card support 24" full hd screen

5.Moniter - Asus VH242h 1080p .. howz this ?? any other better moniter ?

Thanks

Doubtful if you can assemble a Intel Core i7 system, in 60K. It can be possible without SLI/Crossfire and no monitor. The CPU/MB combo only will cost you about Rs 30K and you may need enough RAM (about > 4GB).

I will suggest a MSI 790GX-GD70 or MSI 790GX-G65. Both of them are very good. MSI 790GX-GD70 will cost about Rs 11K+tax and MSI 790GX-G65 will cost Rs 9300+tax. I own a MSI 790GX-G65 and it is very good, but I am not overclocking. Read the reviews for this board and you will find it rated good.

Dell has decent and cheap 24inch monitors. Even HP has 24inch good monitors.

MSI GX790 G65 costs around 8.8k including shipping,i just got this board yesterday.
PII 940 is around 9.6k
Any decent 2x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz Ram will cost around 5k
I would suggest Corsair HX620 PSU instead of Glacialpower
You can cut on Xbox controller instead get a WDC 640GB AAKS HDD

But as someone mentioned above all this wont come in your budget rather damage will be around 70K that to without speakers.
You can make some changes
instead of 24" get urself a Benq 22' around 10-11 k
Get a powersafe or numeric ups

Default Re: Doubts building new rig.

@ OP: Choose the med end gaming rig from here- http://www.techenclave.com/buying-gu...-a-134645.html
Eventually you are going to end up with more or less with the same rig. So there's no point in continuing further since the rig put over here in this guide is the best you can get. However, IMO there are couple of changes I like to make.
Med End Gaming Rig
Motherboard: Biostar TA790GXB - 4.5k
Processor: AMD Phenom II X3 720BE - 7.8k
RAM: G.Skill 4GB pi black/G skills 4GBPK- 4.4k
GPU: Palit GTX 260 Core 216 Sonic - 11k
HDD: Western Digital 640GB SATAII (preferably blue edition-AAKS)- 3.7k
Cabinet: CoolerMaster 590 - 3.8k
SMPS: Corsair VX 450W - 4.2k
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S22F SATA - 1.1k
Speakers: Altec vs4121
Monitor: Samsung 2233SW - 9.75k+ Rs. 250 for the dvi cable- as its not provided with the lcd
Keyboard: Logitech Multimedia - .5k
Mouse: Logitech MX518 - 1.4k
Mouse Pad: SteelSeries QcK Mini - .5k
This rig will come around 60k. Take the config draft, give it to your dealer and get a quote. If there is something which is not available, then get it from other shops, online shops or by TE registered dealers. If you are planning to get glaciatech- do note this important point since no1 has done it over here. There are 2 versions glacialtech 650w available in India-Glacial Power GP AL650A and Glacial Power GP AL650AA. Only Glacial Power GP AL650AA is the only good psu out of the 2. with 18AWG wiring and 80+ efficiency with 5 year warranty which is made by channelwell tech. The difference between the 2 is significant enough not to ignore this valuable point even though the prices are more or less the same AFAIK. I am not sure how good is the warranty support for glacialtech is over here, so that's something others should help on.

(shop in lamington was giving me processor + intel mobo for 27k) --hows this 1 ??
3.Ram-DDR3 4gb (2x2) - OCZ- 6144rs
somewhere i read 6gb for 5.5k which one is it ??
4.Screen-24" Asus -16660rs
5.PSU-Coolermaster 650w-4150rs
6.Case-Antec 900 - prime- 6960rs.. any possiblity of getting this case cheaper at sm other place ??
7.HDD 500gb-4000rs

Total is around - 66514..are those prices correct ?? or chances of getting it cheaper :\

Looks good , for that budget .. make sure you get D0 stepping of i7
3.Ram-DDR3 4gb (2x2) - OCZ- 6144rs

i7 supports triple channel memory , so go for either 1gb x 3 or 2gb x 3 configuration
4.Screen-24" Asus -16660rs
5.PSU-Coolermaster 650w-4150rs
AVOID AT ANY COST , you ll need atleast a Corsair Vx550 or similar to drive that machine .. coupled with a good gfx card
6.Case-Antec 900 - prime- 6960rs.. any possiblity of getting this case cheaper at sm other place ??
Antec 900 doesn't sell any more , it has been replaced by Antec 902 .. but i doubt its availability in India , Can look @ HAF 922 .
7.HDD 500gb-4000rs
Segate 7200.12 - Rs 2800
Total is around - 66514..are those prices correct ?? or chances of getting it cheaper :\

Yes , it will suppory 1080p but you won't be able to play new games @ that resolution with that card .
thanks
+1 to The Sorcerer's configuration , more balanced ..

Good Luck
