    Hello friends ,

I bought an Epson Stylus TX121 All in one after reading nice reviews about it on net and ofcourse cheaper than other All in One

But I found out that its ink cartridge output is quite low . Printing is turning out to be an expensive option now , I mean I bought the printer to print and not worry everytime seeing the ink levels drop.

So please suggest me some cheaper alternatives . After reading I found out that CISS turns out to be the best option available but I am not able to find any person selling CISS in my area .

I also tried to find so called alternative cheaper cartridges but again not really able to find one .

Also is installing CISS a tough job ? .

The easiest thing i feel is cartridge refilling . But am not sure if it will damage the printer or not .

One last thing , is there any way I could lighten the black color so it uses less black ink ? .

I did not find any option to do so , a friend's canon printer has the option .

So if anyone of you know how to do it please tell .

Note : I cannot buy from ebay .

I live in navi mumbai , maharastra .

    Thanks a lot .

Even, I am having TX121 and installed CISS. It costed me around 1100 for the installation with the ink. It's better to go for CISS and it's the best and cheapest option.

For the printing, if you are using the Epson software, then there is an option to say Grayscale, which uses less black ink. I used to take the prints with that option and they are good to read.

Even I have the same printer and I'm using compatible cartridges atm because my usage is not so much but if you use it heavily then you can go for ciss from eBay, sorry don't know any other alternative location for ciss, but as you said that you cannot purchase from eBay then try from dadar or Mumbai cst, i'm sure you'll find it somehow, more local TEins can help

after loads of experimenting with CISS and having a non fool proof result....(jams/cartridge errors etc....) i have shifted to refillable cartridges. initallay i brought a set from ebay india...theinkshop. later ordered a set d=from dealextreme which came very late but is giving me totally hassle free service since past 1 year... totally worth it. my print duty cycle is approximtely 500 prints a month. pretty economical i must say. the only grouse is CISS is totally intervention free and refillable cartirgdes need to be topped up manually , every once in a while.

i guess approximately 15p black and 20 to 25p for colour. i am an architect and use it to chiefly print drawings apart from a few documents so my type of usage would not be reflected in average usage types a s the ink area in the print is pretty less. also i don't print large graphics or photos which a regular user might do...anyways photos on refilled ink would come out not that great anyways!

Thanks a lot for replying .

I print only documents , picture quality of this printer is anyways not to my liking .

The ink shop only has refill bottles but not empty cartridges sadly or may be I could not find them .

The cartridges from inkshop were not good enough ? .

The genuine ink cartridges are pathetic , although the quality is fine but the cost per page is pathetic ! .

The reason I bought this printer was because of reading all the CISS stories here . But sadly now no one is even replying to the CISS solution .

    Any update...?
I have same printer too and mostly I use black cartridge. It's almost empty now.

How can I refill the cartridge (73N) which came with the printer?

I have found a CISS installer in kalher, bhivandi
    http://http://www.splashjet.co.in
    CISS cost would 1050 + 300for installation

but I only print documents (text only) that too 3-5 A4 pages per week (sometimes max 15/week)

should I go for CISS or keep refilling the OEM cartridge?
(what is refillable cartridge? do mean that OEM carts can not be refilled?)

    Bought CISS from Splashjet.

    Cost of the kit Rs.1050
    Installation charges Rs.300
Time taken for delivery less than 3 hrs
    Installation time 30mins

Excellent service and the technician had enough knowledge.

Let's see how it works in long term.
