    Nice rig u've put together!

    Few queries and suggestions:

    1. What's the budget like?

    2. The Dell Ultrasharp 2208WFP is a very good LCD. Probably one of the best TN panels around. Costs as much as 14~15k. 2209WA is an e-IPS panel. Miles ahead of the 2208WFP in terms of color reproduction and viewing angles with more or less the same response time, it is expensive and might set you back by 19~20k. S2409W is again a 24 inch TN panel. Full HD native resolution. Best bang for the buck I'd say! In any case the GTX 260 core 216 could drive these LCDs quite easily.

    3. The WD Caviar Green drives (EACS/EADS) are mostly meant to be served as dump drives for mass storage whereas the Caviar Blue (costlier!) are performance drives; meant for the OS (as well as mass storage!). Though the company doesn't wish to disclose it, the green pwr drives spins at 5400 rpm and thereabouts whereas the latter does it as 7200 rpm!

Here's the WD line-up: WD Product Line

If your budget permits, get the newer Seagate 7200.12 500GB drive for the OS (~2.7-3k) and maybe another 1TB WD EACS drive for mass storage.

    4. IINM Corsair does not retail HX520 in India, yet. The VX450 could easily power the specs you've laid down. The VX450 costs around 4.2k. The VX550 expensive by another 1.5k odd is a notch better future-proof investment in case you wish to upgrade your rig (upgrading or adding another gfx card!).

Good suggestion there! OC'ed to 4G (easily done with the TT!) this processor can do any task the E8400 could. The Virtualisation Tech is not something you'd really miss on the E7400, then again if multimedia and encoding is the major task, get the E8400.

Maybe check the Antec EA650/CM Silent Pro 500W.

The 2209WA would be a better option according to me also I would rather choose a 4870 over gtx 260. Going for an E7400 with SCCF is a better option then an E8400 if you gonna OC.

    Thanks for advising guyz.....

    @madnav

    Why do you suggest E7400 over E8400 ? E8400 has 6mb cache were as E7400 has 3mb

    @Gannu

My budget is 65-70k. Thanks for your valuable inputs on Dell monitor, WD drives and Corsair PSUs. How much does WD Blue 500gb cost? I won't be upgrading for at least 3 years so I'll stick to Corsair VX450W

    @krishna_chennai

Congratulations on your Dell S2409W Let me know your feedback after you receive it

Can you specify that Tagan PSU model?

Still cannot decide on the monitor :S

No idea abt the cost of the same. I'd advise you to get the newer Seagate 7200.12 500GB drive (Model No: ST3500410AS) which retails for ~2.7k and thereabouts.

70k budget should get u a 24 incher quite easily! Get the S2409W from one of the dealers in TE. Here's the link: http://www.techenclave.com/dealer-s-...or-129629.html

^ i second the above suggestions, getting a slightly cheaper procesor that performs nearly the same(although if you're happy with everything else and have some cash to spare, the E8400 is a great chip indeed) will let you put more cash in the rest of the components.

Also, if you're in the market for a 500GB HDD, look no further than the 7200.12 Seagate single platter.

If you guyz are so confident that E7400 is equally good as E8400 and it will not effect the overall performance then I'll go for E7400

    Ordered:

    Dell 2208WFP

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P

Nvidia EVGA GTX 260 Core 216

    G.Skill Pi Black 4gb

    Tuniq Tower

I went to Lamington couple of days back to buy processor, psu and cabinet. I had planned to buy e7400, corsair vx 550 as vx450 doesn't meet my gfx min. requirement and CM 690. Non of the shops had a CM 690 and VX550 including prime and mahavir :@ Even cooler master real power 550/650 was not available :'( :'( It was so frustrating that i picked up E8400 instead of E7400 as i had the extra cash.

I know H2O, Gannu, Amien & sri_k will curse me

I am very confused and unable to decide a PSU and cabinet . The following PSU's are available to lammy:

    Corsair TX 650 - Rs. 6700

    CM Silent Pro 600 - Rs. 6995

    CM Silent Pro 500 - Rs. 5200

Corsair VX 550 is available online at Rs. 6000 which i find worthless @ 6k. Which one to pick?????

CM 690 will be available by this month end.I think i'll wait till 29th for CM690. Can you guyz suggest an alternative to CM 690 in case it's not available.

@harley: CM590 or the Antec 300 if the CM690 is not available. In fact get those instead of opting for the CM690. I've started hating mine as well.

As for the PSU, see if the Antec Earthwatts 650 is in stock. Costs 5.5k and thereabouts. Wiser option if you may ask.

Don't worry it's still a good choice Especially the RAM...

The Corsair VX450 is enough for your needs, just go with me on this one and don't bother with what the card's requirements on the box say. Corsair under-rate their PSU's. If you can get antec EarthWatts 650 and have some spare cash, go for that, although the VX450 will not let you down. If you want to spend a lot more for futureproofing/overkill/need something modular, for some reason, get the Corsair HX620, not really needed though IMO.

Congrats on your purchases, post pictures once you put it together

:thanx: I'll surely upload photos after i complete the rig.

I can spare 6k for the PSU but need a quality one I had VX450 in mind but it doesn't have two 6 pin connectors!! required to connect the gfx. I don't want a modular psu. How is CM real power pro 550w/650w compared to Antec 650w?

    Hello Techguys,

I am buying a new system...want to know from excperts, if the configuration sounds okay. My budget was between 60-70K.

    i7-920 Rs 14600

    DFI LanParty DK X58 T3eH6 - Rs 14750

PATRIOT Viper 6GB 1600MhZ triple Channel Rs 9200

    Sapphire HD4850 HDMI - 512MB Rs 6990

    CoolerMaster Elite 310 or CM690 - Rs 1950 or Rs. 4500

GlacialPower AL650 or Corsair VX550 Rs 4900 or Rs. 5500

    BenQ 24" G2412HD or 22" E2200HD HDMI - Rs 12000 or Rs 11000

    Seagate 500GB 7200.12 - Rs 2900

    Misc (DVDRW + KB/Mouse) - Rs 2000

    TOTAL - Rs 69290

First and foremost, are all these compatible? Secondly, is this a good configuration?

Is DFI Mobo and Patriot Ram better price & performance wise?

I don't play games that much [but wouldn't wanna leave that option].

I would be running high end 3D graphic software mostly and web browsing.

Also needed to know if I should go for XP 64bit or Vista 64bit?

    Please suggest...Thanks in advance....
