I request somebody with proper equipment and spare time to try it out
Using Wifi Continously on a phone is going to boil you Battery! You will have to keep it on charge continously, and the battery's life span will be shortened.

[quote=Anish;917256@ alsiladka - Dude, I've tried out almost every phone on the market currently and please don't try justifying Symbian one bit cause its definitely slow and the coding is nowhere near perfect. I personally use Symbian (on a P990i) and it still manages to throw up errors every 3-4 days on continuous usage. Same with WinMobile (5,6 and custom ROMs), they are definitely not stable as a rock.

Just curious btw, how many different OS'es have you used?

And don't give me 8Mbps WiFi rubbish, if you have access to a 8Mbps UL WiFi line, then that's excellent, most of us here dont.

To be honest, give this idea a skip and get yourself a ASUS EEE 4G with an external USB HDD.[/quote]
I have used Win Mobile, S60 as well as UIQ.
Just for your knowledge, P990i runs UIQ, not S60. Completely different offerings based on the core symbian base.

BTW, your idea of the Asus EEE 4G was the best idea you have given till now.

Ugh, no never give up do you? I mean of course I know my 990 runs UIQ and I'm glad you figured the core was Symbian. To be honest, Sony's UIQ is easily one of the best (If not the best) implementation of Symbian, and I've found it to be extremely laggy with files > 400-500MB (On a 4GB MSPro Duo). So i would even bother trying with S60, get the point?

The bottom line is, for frequent use, you shouldnt use mobiles as downloading tools..
Personally, my phone gets very hot when downloading for 5+hrs..not to mention the battery wil go bad in months seeing that the phone is operating on such high temps..And the phone motherboard wil also be at risk..

Asus eepc, the cheapest one will be the best..

^ Exactly! Finally somebody with some proper experience on S60 has added to this thread. S60 has the worst memory handling by far so expect it choking like mad.

And for the people who feel they can hit 8mbps speeds on a phone, well, ahem.

did you enable port forwarding..?? speed may be low cause of the torrent..
Its ofcourse not a utorrent replacement...Those are highly optimised code and libraries..Expecting that would be foolish..

I have personally used and am telling this from experience..have nothing against apple or anyone else..

@anish..If we lived in the same city, i'd have come over and let you test my n82..Maybe you would believe it then..
s60 came a long way from the old days..they are faster, more reliable and frequently update to keep in line with the latest tech..not to mention the hardware..Maybe not the easiest of the interface, but anyone who can read can easily use it.
