    ASUS A8N SLi Voltage Mods

Many people here were asking for the Voltage Mod for the A8N Sli so here they are.

I dont know if you already have found it and i was not late posting it here.

    nForce4HQ article

For the Asus A8N SLI board, I achieved more stability and overclockability after a chipset voltage mod. The chipset voltage is measured from the mosfet leg shown. Default voltage is around 1.55v. Located near the Southbridge is the RT9214 chip. You can solder a 1K ohms variable resistor to the spot marked and ground the other end of the resistor. Set VR at maximum resistance. This will increase chipset voltage to 1.7v. Tune down VR to increase voltage. Take note that the chipset does get quite hot so be sure to give it good cooling.

For the VDimm mod, you can refer to this thread. I did it the same way my friend OC-Rookie did his and it works good for rams that like high voltages. For Vcore, you can get a maximum of 1.66v with this tweak.

Or if for some reason it does not work for you, you can use a hard VID mod.Solder a wire to each of the 4 solder pads circled. Connect all 4 wires to ground to force maximum voltage.

yep thats that xtremeresources vdimm mod i was talking about.

There the guy soldered the wire but it can be done without soldering.

One guy simply took normal wire, wound it sround the PSU 3.3 leg(on the backside). then wound the other end at the +ve sided of vdimm capacitor and just used that silicon gel you get at any electronic shop to set the things. No soldering or anything.

    they should.

The board layout is almost same. Same capacitor there.

But VID mod may need some modification go A8N-E as its possible that the original input voltage for NF4ultra is different than NF4SLI.

VDIMM 3.3v mod is same for almost all motherboards.

well i have done vmods in past. So i wouldnt mind doing it. But I am trying to sell my mobo. And i know in india not many people apperitiate moded motherboard

Anyway the vdim mod can be done without hardmoding the motherboard and its preety safe as you wont be damaging any components if you connect correct pins. The capacitor can easily handle 3.3V and if you have memory that is known to do good with more juice then 3.3v will definitely give some good results. Specially the patriot, BH-5/BH-6 and hynix d43.

If you have tccd chips 3.3 will end up killing that chip. so do little research before doing vmod.

Current transcend chips are useless for vdimm. They dont give any better results over 2.85v.

Hynix d43 is totally different story.

I too was thinking of creating a "Master Voltage Modding thread"

Just like the Master Hardware Contact Thread.

But i cannot do it as there are many many VMod threads floating around.

But will try and post them here in the Moddin Section as soon as i find it.
