Default Windows 7 Professional upgrade from Vista Home Premium

Hi,
I currently have Vista Home Premium on my comp and what to install Win 7 Professional. Am planning to get the Win7 Professional upgrade disc for this
Will this work on a Vista Home Premium or is there any other way of doing this?

I think the 'in place' upgrades won't work. So when you start the installation you will have to choose the clean install option. This will move your Vista setup into a windows.old folder. You will have to install all programs after the upgrade.

Yes...upgrade from Vista Home premium to Windows 7 profession requires a custom install. Btw is upgrade option available in India? I heard they are selling only retail version in India.

I'm getting the discs from the US.

BTW just wondering, these OS discs are not region locked or anything right?

Anyone know if the OS discs from one country would be invalid in another?

discs bought in india need to be activated in india only. they are geographically locked. this is true for some other countries too.
