That used to be the case till W2k and XP.

Very little to bash with those 2 OS's.

In fact being exposed to the above two and comparing with the new & shiny is what ppl are being let down by.

That M$ could def do better in light of the above 2 OS's, they kept us waiting so long and hopes were pretty high. Then they pull out the cool stuff and say here...take it!

And since this thread is about M$ (*only*), its certainly comparing apples to apples.

SP2 will be out some time next yr, depending on reviews thats when i upgrade,unless windows7 offers better.

something tells me that windows 7 will be very very good...call it a hunch.

Steam is going to make new games for Linux and will port all its games to Linux. Big games devloper (valve) porting huge game series (half-life 2 orange box) to linux possibly Interstellar Geekyness
Other big companies like Ea ,Ubisoft and Id s/w are shwing interest in Linux Gaming segment .. As far as new games are concerned.. there are few to name them which run natively on Linux. Like Quake Wars. UT3 and few more.. but Linux has its own gaming portal

Ballmer seems to be making quiet a lot of headlines in regards to windows xp.
