USB port issue after reinstalling XP with SP3

hi.. i am kirtibas

its gr8 forum i found ...


I have problem from last few days.. after sever virus attack i format my pc 4-5 times now installed xp sp3.
facing lot of problem.

mother board : asrock 775dual 915GL

processor :intel P4 2.66GHz



non of my USB port working in every few seconds it prompt one of the USB device attached to the computer not has malfunctioned and window does not recognized it.

when i insert any of my unlocking box/ sd card reader or any external usb hard drive my ps2 mouse stop working

please help me.. suggest me

my every work stopped due to this problem

Post your query in one of the relevant sections (in this case, I think Operating Systems would be appropriate) and folks should be able to help you.
BTW have your issues started with SP3 ?

yes after i install sp3
may b its motherboard problem or may b driver problem

Roll back to SP2 and see if it solves things.
There are no separate drivers to install for USB ports; they're an integral part of XP since SP2 so it could be an issue with the OS.

I believe still virus affected in your PC.

install kaspersky, there is a USB Autorun virus, which does that kind of issue. kaspersky good in detecting this virus.

format your Flash disk also..

any device not working card / external hdd/reader / memory card unlocker / jaf or ufs-hwk (mobile flashing device)

i already formatted many times.. i'll measure usb o/p volt.. i think there is not enough voltage on the usb port

i already install all sw available for mother board but facing same problem.. my mouse not work when i attack anything in usb port

Since you yourself admitted that these problems started after SP3, its common sense to roll back to SP2.

1. try and get the latest chipset drivers from the intel website and give it a shot.

also heres something i found via google, see if it is of any help

2. a full proper virus scan to make sure there is nothing still remaining anywhere

already install all driver software for my mother board : asrock 775dual 915GL

my usb output volt is 1.61V its less or more than actual?

try uninstalling the INF driver that you got from asrock and install this from the intel website, seems like a newer version

scroll down and click 915 series

is the mouse a laser mouse? have you installed the hid interface drivers for it?
check in device manager under usb devices options if it is installed or not.
HID device shows up seperately under computer name too i think.

all tips and trick failed same problem

its ps2 iball mouse..
stop working when i put some this in usb port
i disable usb

i tried every thing changed smps . install new usb pci slot..but the problem remained same..
now i decided to switch on to new motherboard as well as good cpu..
dont know AMD supports all the mobile flashing and unlocking device or not(since im in gsm service professional)
im nt good as u guys in desktop pcs
plz suggest me good mobo & CPU

looks like driver issue to me. seems like some irq is clashing on your mobo.
tried enabling the device in the screenshot you gave? what does it say?

PS: give some bigger screenshots. post it on imgx.org and paste bbcode links here. attachments are quite small by default i think. almost no text is visible in the image you posted. post screengrabs of all the tabs of that dialog box.

Pleeeease give XP with SP2 a try
