This means that your PC is not able to get an IP address from the router.

To solve it you can assign static IP to your computer:

    IP: 192.168.1.10

    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

    Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DNS: (if you have from MTNL) or just add 4.2.2.2 / 4.2.2.1

Your problem is solved by this

If still any issues...hard reset the router to factory default settings and then reconfigure it.

    - To reset, insert paper clip in the reset hole and keep it pressed for 30 seconds (while the router is turned on).

    - After this, remove the paper clip along with powercable

    - Plugin the powercable after 15 seconds

    - Wait till your ADSL light gets stable and thne reconfigure the router.

PS: When you reset you'll be losing all config details off your router..so make sure you have all details and then reset the reconfigure.

Check if you have already assigned static IP to your XP machine??

2ndly...if you are getting IP address from your router properly on your XP machine then that could be an issue with Vista machine. Probably its coz of the drivers issue of your LAN card using from Vista.

..Still assigning a static IP on your Vista machine will solve the issue

Still if that is pinching you as the fault of the router..you can reset and reconfigure it or try updating its firmware. However, i'd say the following:

    - 1st try static IP on vista machine.

    - 2nd you can try reset the router which will prolly solve the issue

    - Still if you wana do more fingering you can update firmware of the router

PS: Make sure you install proper firmware from D-Link India Site and please dont go for 3rd party firmwares as dlink routers wont support that or even if it does it could mess up and u'll end up with dead router.

Though if your router is under warranty ie. 2 years then you can get it RMAd...just pray that they wont give it back saying that you have void the warranty by installing 3rd party firmware. This does happens in most of the router companies...but these days the routers from other brands are officially supporting 3rd party firmware
