| | Re: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Released ! | | have downloaded both server and desktop isos. will try it out in next few days. For now I dont see much of any diff in usage but will be good to use the LTS server edition for further dev work as clients prefer ubuntu lts or centos
EDIT - Just read the power consumption comparison at Phoronix. Seems we are getting closer.

| | Re: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Released ! | | why mount it from terminal? is the CD already in the drive when you login, or do you put it in afterwards?
If you click the Places menu then select your disk does it then mount? - to avoid going into terminal... |

| Well, use 64bit only you are doing Lot of CPU intensive tasks & have more than 3Gb of ram.
Cons:
Less Hardware support
Less Software Support
Some Extra configuration required
Pros.
Works Faster than 32bit.
Like i am into C programming, so 64bit Compiler help me lot.
as in normal TC, an interger can store a value upto 2^32, while with 64 bit its 2^64
which means, i don't need to use any other datatype like long_int etc etc

| I've so far not experienced any of the cons you mentioned with Hardy 8.04 64-bit on my desktop or tablet PC |

| | Re: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Released ! | | I have installed Hardy AMD64 version. Working without glitches except the audio. Trying to fix it.
By the way, i installed lm_sensers along with fancontrol script and xsensors. It shut my CPU fan down. It is great to work on a peaceful Ubuntu :-)
Softwares Installed:
1. Emerald Theme Manager
2. Advanced Desktop Effects Settings
3. lm_sensors & xsensors
4. Inkscape
5. Blender
6. Emacs
7 .Screenlets |
