Looks like Kubuntu will come with KDE 4.1 or who knows? even 4.2.

Just tried the packages for 4.1 beta 2 mentioned on kubuntu.org and its looking good. You can make it looks like KDE3 style (which I prefer) and the KWin desktop effects are neat.

As for Ubuntu, the .26 kernel and latest Xorg and drivers should mean it works much better on my tablet (wireless and touchscreen), so I'm definitely looking forward to the release

Some videos to watch:

YouTube - UDS Prague (Intrepid Ibex) - Kernel Team Briefing
YouTube - UDS Prague (Intrepid Ibex) - Mark Shuttleworth - Part One
YouTube - UDS Prague (Intrepid Ibex) - Mark Shuttleworth - Part Two

You can also check the blueprints and roadmap to get an early idea of what's planned for Intrepid:

https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubu...repid/+roadmap

For example: 3G support, https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbiquityVisualRefresh, USB installation. I'm sure more will be added as they go along...

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't include it.

i started downloading alpha 2 but then cancelled it when i read there is some gdm or kernel issue which causes a hang during login if used in a VM...

Downloaded the amd64 desktop Live CD, wouldn't work on my PC with some VESA error (blank screen then to busybox terminal). Under VMWare the mouse would not work. Found this blog: Installing Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 3 in VMWare — Ubuntu Kung Fu helpful... in addition I think you can blacklist the problematic snd_pcsp driver in /etc/modules somewhere.
