Hey ... Sounds slutter even for me. Whenever there is some window activity like minimize/maximize the music slutters.

CPU utilization shoots up to 90% when system monitor is opened.

thats "stutter" must be the pulseaudio issues which people are complaining about on ubuntuforums.org. even tho this is supposed to be an LTS release the developers released new untested stuff like pulseaudio knowning about the issues... can you try uninstalling pulseaudio and installing alsa... i am not sure how to do it, audio works fine for me. i was always worried since the early days of hardy about why ubuntu people are adding so much new unstable stuff for an LTS... maybe that is why they have an update release scheduled for june/july version 8.04.1 i guess gutsy was a super release.

Just change the audio output device from pulseaudio to alsa or oss. I don't think you need to uninstall it.

P.S : pulseaudio works for me, but the sound output (volume) level is on the lower side

@reef_d : gutsy is a good update to have. then you can wait until intrepid. me too waiting to see how the new theme turns out. luckily i read on a blog they are going back to more brown themes away from the increasingly bright orange which im beginning to find annoying... plus, the push for intrepid will be "internet everywhere" or something like that. i hope that means much better laptop/wireless support and i hope my tablet pc's touchscreen will work out of the box too - fingers crossed

FOSSwire: We’ve seen the base color scheme for Ubuntu change from brown, to caramel, to orange over the years. Are there plans to alter it any more?

Wimer: I think that we are slowly moving back from orange into the caramel and browns. One issue that has come up is that there is too much orange. Orange in itself is a color often used in warnings, etc.
