getting this setup is a breeze ... install ubuntu , get started with audtomatix 2 , install the non free nvidia drivers and then beryl . works like a charm . no crashes so far .

How much space does ubuntu require for installing , me thinking of going linux for sure now.

Its just my ISP doesnt work on linux

Can u elaborate these steps more in detail.

whats dapper and breezy.
Is breezy = Ubuntu 5.10 , dapper = 6.06 and edgy = 6.10

I have an Ati based card.

Also what exactly is Automatix.

also are these effects shown in the video built in beryl or one has to download

all these effects are built in to beryl

but to get some very new beta plugins like video capture

u have to use the SVN snapshot(devlopment version)

i will write a small how to this weekend as to how to do this.

u are right abt dapper and edgy

automatix is an installer sort of thing for linux, it downloads and installs most of the things.

Having an ATI based card may be a bit of problem but its not impossible to intall beryl there are many users who are using it with ATI cards.

Why is beryl a problem with Ati , also is compiz the same as beryl as i have heard that compiz works with ati cards.

Also is there any automatix for FC5 and FC6 or any similar software.

Ati is not a problem

just that we have to install XGL since it doesnt support AIglx

so some extra work to do

Xwinwrap

this is not a beryl plugin but when used along with beryl adds more eyecandy to the desktop.

with Xwinwrap we can use any video or opengl screensaver as the desktop ( Dreamscapes in vista )

this is slightly longer video when compared to others
