USB Sound card for Laptop

My friend's laptop soundcard gone kaput.
He needs an average workarround for sound to listen music and watch Movies occasionally.

So please suggest me an USB Sound card. budget is under ~1k lesser the better

USB sound card under 1K is a big ,even i thought of buying one at same budget there are no options and all u get is el cheapo ones and @kreativekevin has given u a link on ebay its a crap sound card ,if u can some more money get a Creative X-Fi USB i heard its worth the money u pay i am gonna pick it in sometime ,please do not take the cheap USB ones they are not worth spending a pie and moreover the sound output is gonna be sad compared to ur laptop output,try to get the laptop sound card repaired,get a quote and post here will help u out.

i dunno about the quality of those cards.
i just searched under the 1k budget limit the guy specified.

Just was tired to see a guy BUMP a thread(that no one responded to)
when all he had to do was google and get all the info he needed.
besides the reviews on most tech websites would have told him the quality of the stuff

Very cheap generic ones are available at around 200-400 bucks. Sound is ok for normal headphone, movies and all unless you are a audiophile or have really good external speakers .

My friend needs only a workaround so I think sub 400 one will do for him.

@Metalspree onboard chip went kaput and his jerk vendor asked him to replace the mobo(quoted some 15k damage) explaining the laptop is very o'l and other crap.
Will update him about the Creative X-Fi USB
