Guys looking at config I hope it is not having any heating issues as its predecessors of XPS line were having. If u look at design again they have provided air vents at back which can block the warm air when screen is opened.

They should have provided side air vents like dell studio 14. New XPS 1645 users share your experience after you receive the laptop.

studio 17 will be more stable with this config, and it will also run cooler. After reading all the reviews of Studio 17 on the Dell site, not a single one mentions anything about the laptop getting too hot.

But not all older gen XPS lappys had overheating issues.
i never faced any overheating issues, on stock speeds.
well, i did oc the gpu from 475 core to 680 core and was running ok, and at times hot but was stable enough.

But there were many with the same config and were complaining to be unstable while gaming on stock clocks.

Anyway 4670 is too week to be called a gaming rig, especially when the screen is 1920*1080p.
They shoud have equipped atleast an HD 4770.

xps is a bit too overconfigured for its dimensions. There have been reports of GPUs on XPS 15 and 16 frying off after an year or so of heavy gaming.

so in case you insist on XPS then make sure you get 3-yr extended warranty for it as well.

the 17" will remain cool and extended warranty need not be required on that. Ofcourse you compromise slightly on portability.

if you don't intend to lug your rig everyday, then the 17" would be a better choice for gaming.
