^^ X2 3600 + is a 64 bit processor so you can use 32 bit as well as 64 bit s/w in it.. while to gain the maximum suppport and performance you need to switch to 6 bit version so download it . Happy Tuxing ..

Ubuntu and Kubuntu are nearly same but the difference is that Ubuntu has Gnome as the Desktop Environment while Kbuntu sports KDE as Desktop Environment..

Gnome: GNOME: The Free Software Desktop Project

Kde: K Desktop Environment - Conquer your Desktop!

Berly is dead now but for information it has been merged up with Compiz to make Compiz fusion... Both Berly and COmpiz are 3D Desktop Manager which gives stunning effects in desktop

    Compiz: compiz.org/

    Berly:www.beryl-project.org-

Yes you can install Compiz fusion .. to do this see this thread http://www.techenclave.com/forums/ho...-new-post.html

Now you can also install KDE on Ubuntu but I did not see any reason for this Gnome FTW .. btw still here is the link for you needs How to install KDE on Ubuntu

And yes Gnome is the default Desktop Environment in Ubuntu.. Which is pretty good I think..

    Hope this helps.. Peas Ds
