40 amps/36 smps on +12V rails... one more reason why mainstream users are going to stay away from these two cards.

guys you aren't reading it clearly ... it says "minimum" .. now on systems with an OC'd quad core.. coupla hard drives ... PCI-EX sound card and coupla other peripherals ... the power requirements are gonna shoot up.
Especially the OC'd CPU 's, and with nehlam coming soon too .. very soon The Corsair HX 620 is gonna be treated as minimum required.

Lolz... with these cards the power consumption will blow out of the roof...

Alternative means to get power should be considered before getting these cards... A wind turbine to generate electricity may be on the terrace...

oops!

GTX 280/260 trails behind HD3870X2 In 3D Mark 06

I believe NVIDIA has not tweaked Drivers for 3DMark 06..

Woaah woahh! At this rate, i believe we are sliding to the pre modern age computer size/power where we had ENIAC machines with room just to cool/hold/power the machine!!

Well, the Geforce GTX 280 is highly recommended for the latest version of Minesweeper coming out which i believe is Nvidia sponsored!

The short story: not enough, not nearly enough. It is barely faster than a GX2, yields are crap, and there will only be a syphilitic trickle of parts on launch, slowing to next to nothing after that.

Sigh...

The 4870 seems to be the best bet; now only a first hand review can reveal the truths!!
