check out the resolutions too, at most u wud be on 1280 x 1024 which this card will be able to easily pull, and at 1680 and above res. 8600gt cannot even think more than a few FPS. Its atleast 2-3 times faster than 8600gt so no point in comparing.

35fps in crysis doesn't look too good,but better drivers and a bit of overclocking should help.
on the upside,the AA performance hit seems to be reduced.

For a $200 card with pre-release drivers and at stock clock speeds I say they are amazing figures.
As the drivers get mature in the coming months you can expect the fps to increase even more and by then the card would have come down to $175.
For $350(for 2 X HD4850) + an Intel Chipset board with crossfire you move up the ladder to get the label of a high end gaming rig.

1680x1050 no AA 35fps
1680x1050 4xAA 24fps

my oc'ed 3870 at same res
no AA 31fps
4xAA 14fps

so i think the AA performance looks quite better.

its easy to say 350$ but the truth is you would need a CF mobo and a better psu,and sadly CF doesn't really scale well in crysis

thats because crysis is the only graphically demanding game right now..every other game can be played at max setting settings with a single card or a SLI or CF setup.

Crysis is the game which really set the standard for future games, so if a card can give a Min of 35FPS with 4AA at 1680x1050 then yes that would hold for sometime, and more Devs have licensed CryEngine 2.0 so expect much better games available around this Christmas.

As fas as the Fan Fights go, its Trivial. Unless both the parties have competition they would be eating their belly out and no improvements (People around the net are disappointed with the 280 already), and its good for ATI to bounce back cuz the competition would be fierce and it would be we, the customers who would be reaping the good fruits of that competion.

So guys common lets not fight for a stupid cause as whose got the Bigger one
