    I am planning to buy a PMP shortly.I had made up my mind to buy the COWON D2 after I recover from the damamges done by Raksha Bandhan but recently I came across Nationite players.They are awesome.But I went though MP4Nations and they have quite a few products which are also supposed to be good.Now I am confused between all these players from Rramos, Nationite, Onda etc.I know that Nationite is good since quite a few TE members have backed it up.What about others?They all look and promise great audio and video experience. Which model among them should be good for me..?Below are my requirements.

    1. Should sound great.Dunno which audiochip's supposed be better - Rockchip or Wolfson

    2. Am gonna be opting for 8gig or 16 gig model so that I could expand it later with a 32 gig SD card.

    3. Around 3"-4" screen so that I could read e-books(mostly pdfs).

    4. Most of them seem to be touchscreen.Even if it's not, not a problem with me as along as the usability is good.

    5. Budget should be around $100-$130.Need to buy card also right? Can stretch to max $150

    ^^ Let us know the model number / name or whatever it has

    @raptor3624

    1. For audio i suppose Wolfson is better.

    2. Yes you can expand later with a card. Base models come in 8GB and 16GB versions

    3. Screen size of 4.3" would be good. But PDFs i am not sure how you will read. All these which feature ebook reader are actually text file readers. So take this point in mind.

    4. No all have touchscreen but it is good to have if it has.

    5. At this budget you can buy the Nationite OS-72

    Now some inputs, the Nationite OS-72 is a rebranded Teclast M50HD. My colleague here took this weekend for Rs. 3700. It is a 8GB model. The player is heavy in terms of weight. The TV out function in this for some reason was not working properly. I mean the video was coming alright but audio was still coming from the player and not from TV speakers :s

    I need to have more look at the player. Not sure about SQ as did not listen to any songs. The player actually hanged a couple of times and sometimes the navigation was sluggish. Not sure if that is an isolated problem. In more thing, these are termed as MP4 players but they DO NOT play .MP4 files. At least this one does not. I tried and it did not recognize it. Also not all AVIs play. There are chances that some AVIs are not playable by the player

    I am planning to review that player in a day or two.

    @zubi,

    will think about it.I am in need of the Veta or atleast Alpha Brainwaves... so buying one of these players.

    @rakrules,

    Thanks for your input.

    There is a firmware update , fortunately, on Nationite OS-72HR which apparently allows a user to read PDFs as well.

    Nationite OS-72HR Firmware Update - Third Party Apps Now supported | MP4 Nation Blog

    I hope the problems u mentioned are isolated.I really like the specs on the Nationite players.

    At the Mp4nations site, I checked out the review of Nationite OS-72HR.The video review mentioned that they would ship Beta brainwavez along with them.But the page where the model is bought refers to an alpha brainwavz.

    Is it rally too heavy?Is it a pain during travelling or even while reading txt files?

    Just so you know, Nationite products are specially branded products for sale on mp4nation.. they might be from any of the manufacturers available on mp4nation itself. The only difference is the special wording 'Nationite'

    ^^ What is Alpha/Beta brainwaves :S

    Yes it is heavy in weight, infact i suppose it is heavy because it has a solid build. You would find links on net about this. Search for the terms "teclast M50HD tank"

    Oh yes i searched the teclast forums and found (after much pain ) that third party firmwares are coming out now and then enhancing the possibilities of this player. They have mentioned that after flashing you can read PDF and even DOC files. I would actually suggest you against using that but as it may turn the language to chinese.

    Now as you are saying that Nationite players have third party firmware then i suggest you can go for that.

    True.... as there is a nationite branded E5 also available there. I dont know why they rebrand these but. I mean other brands like Ramos and Onda are kept intact while teclast is rebranded

    I have a question if anyone knows the answer. Why do these Chinese MP4 players stress so much on RM/RMVB format ?? I mean i don't think this format is prevalent on the net (or may be i am wrong). Because even when these players claim to play 720p videos they are just for RMVB and not for AVIs (forget MKVs altogether)

    They buy products from manufacturers in bulk. Since its a bulk order they get to add custom lettering on the item itself. I guess its just an attempt at establishing a fanbase for MP4nation

    as far as I know.. rmvb files are smaller in size.Lot of tv series on the net are available in rmvb so that they can be watched in PMPs.Haven't found such a huge difference in video quality when I downloaded and watched Entourage seasons.

    By the way i am also planning to buy a PMP but am waiting. The one i want to buy is the Teclast C500HD which can play 720p videos on TV and also has support for MKV files.

    It has a OTG and supports NTFS partition.

    There is a standard TV Out and HDMI out also on this.

    But the teclast chinese forums are buzz with firmware issues with this player so holding my horses for now. Its just the price is sweet at 3500 Rupees

    Just one thing but, if and when this player comes on MP4NATION don't expect the price to be this. It would be around 2k to 2.5k more :@
