^^Yes none of the Episodes so far 1 & 2 haven't been close to as good as the original HL2 and that was for 4 years ago...

HL is a saga, its not going to end any time soon imho. Episode 3 is supposed to close the story arc of the combine on earth not Gordon Freeman. HL3 is speculated to join Portal to Half-life.

Portal 2 will come out before that. There is a lot of half-life left, we haven't even started thinking of the Combine world, there are many mysteries yet to be resolved. More power to Valve for creating this hugely interesting flawlessly executed series.

Half life3 has been known for a while now. Although I thought Freeman would be the main character there as well. Will have to wait and see now.

Kidding right? If there's one thing Valve got right with HL2, it's the art direction.
Even without any fancy shader bling bling, HL2 and its episodes manage to look amazing and still run great on 2-3 generations old hardware.

Unlike a certain other game that won't run well even on hardware from 2-3 generations in the future

I play HL2, and it still feels so current gen! The texture/shader quality sometimes beats the regular games that come out - sometimes even the good ones like CoD4! And the physics are unbeatable. Combine all this with superb art and an amazing storyline and fact that it can all run on 3 years old graphics cards at 40-50fps - I've great respect for a game made this optimized with features that bring future generations to shame. If HL3 even looks remotely like this screenshot, i'm gonna die!

I have to go with the rest of you guys. The graphics were nice and clean without any overblown effects to hide all the jaggies like most other games do.
