Query sony world and import

is it possible for any sony world to import sony products from abroad on order(which may not have been released in india but are available at other places eg hongkong)? i heard sometime back that they can do this.

actually i am looking to preorder the sony prs-500 whenever it releases(slated anytime this month). However there is fat chance sony is ever going to release this here.

so has anyone done or tried this. if so what are the rates like?

What is the cost abroad (indicative, as it has not been released).
Also, I wonder what battery they use, I hope it is NiCd otherwise, you will have to pay through your nose for replacements.

actually its slated to cost 350 US... pretty steep i would say but if they deliver what they are leaking in forms of video, then its just the gizmo i need.

Well I once went to Sony World to find out about a battery for a friends HandyCam. The model wasnt available in India, but the guy said they will import the battery, charge 7.5k, and I will have to wait 4-6 weeks after full payment.

Obviously I got it from the grey market for under 3k.

Sony World is quite close to my house so when I urgently needed a box of floppy disks I decided to get one from them. Needless to say I found it was cheaper to take a Taxi to Lamington Road (3 KM) and buy a box
