I read through their specification but am unable to see any significant diff in the two mobos. Any idea?

Well thats nearly 1k more.

785GMT-UD2H supports DDR3 RAM IIRC, and the other one is DDR2. If I were you, I'd pick the DDR3 option, merely for future proofing.

That would be the MA78GM-US2H the one without the "T" thats DDR2 one. The one I'm talking about is MA785GMT-US2H. check out the link

Any body has any opinion about the Asus M4A785TD-V-EVO.
If i dont get the gigabyte mobo i am planning to get the Asus. My budget will
exceed by 2k by this though.

The D stands for Durability.
The D board uses solid caps completely - which makes it more durable. The S board uses solid caps only for the CPU VRM circuitry.. everything else are electrolytic caps. - 6 Dec 09 11:21 AM #15
