I just wanted to say that we are not partial to AMD. The Radeon HD3870X2 article and drivers was not at all sanctioned by AMD, and in fact I got in a fair amount of trouble for posting the article on the site. Some advice: Multi-billion dollar corporations can afford good lawyers.
Also, I don't see how saving $10 on nForce 200 when bought for the purpose of using it on X58 will result in any more than $10 savings on an already more expensive board to develop. We will see though. Most of what I wrote is my best speculation so definitely none of it is guaranteed to happen. |
Welcome to
TE.
I wrote that thing about 3870 X2 because during you coverage of the card you wrote it somewhere (probably while writing about CrossfireX before the official driver was released) that by withholding some info you were trying to protect the good relationship that FPSLabs had with AMD.
I am sure that AMD did not provide you with the 3870 X2 that you tested and neither for that matter I believe TweakTown got the 8800GTS directly from Nvidia when they had the review of the card up on their site before NDA was lifted, but I believe you have some very good sources in AMD that helped you.
If you have some "very good sources" somewhere, more often than not, it makes you slightly partial in favor of the company/department where your sources are located. Moreover, we all know that "very good sources" are more prone to plant a story rather than your usual PR guys. After all, the relationship between a source and the media is mutual.
Everybody does it and it's all very natural. It does not mean that whatever you are reporting is not true or that you are trumpeting someone's cause but it just adds that little bit of perspective.
Your article about SLI on X58 was brilliantly argued and there is nothing wrong with it. But I just added that line about your review of 3870 X2 because I wanted
TE users to know that FPSLabs has some very good sources within AMD
Cheers!
